Buddy was a runaway hit at the box office and is double dipping back with a Sing-Along Version coming to theaters soon as well. But the orange unicorn is heading home on Digital on October 13th, 2026 and with a physical media release (DVD, Blu-Ray) on December 8th, 2026. That’s not all though, there’ll be a special edition VHS version of the film available via Witter Entertainment starting on November 24th.

Buddy is the highest grossing film in Saban Films’ history and the third-highest grossing film ever for Roadside Attractions, surpassing Judy. The film was written and directed by Casper Kelly and Jamie King. It stars Cristin Milioti, Delaney Quinn, Patton Oswalt, Michael Shannon, with Topher Grace and Keegan-Michael Key. If you missed out on Buddy here’s a refresher.

Remember BUDDY—the bright orange unicorn and star of that classic children’s television show who brought joy and life lessons into your living room? Inside the colorful world of “It’s Buddy!”, a group of children spend their days singing, dancing, and helping Buddy spread happiness. But when one child refuses to play along, Buddy is not pleased and cracks begin to appear in this seemingly perfect world.

What We Said About Buddy

The cast of Buddy.

Here’s what we had to say about the film in our review of the Sing-Along version:

Buddy came out earlier this year and took the box office by storm for an independent horror movie. It captivated audiences and made viral waves with the mascot character heading to different Halloween events and movie theaters. The story of Buddy is one of success and of terror. It comes from the creator of Too Many Cooks, Casper Kelly. If you’ve seen that late-nite TV short from Adult Swim and enjoyed it, you’ll be somewhat at home with Buddy. While it doesn’t go as deep into the surreal-ness of sitcom title cards, Buddy takes aim at children’s shows like Barney the Dinosaur. If you grew up with those shows on various TV channels during the early morning, you’ll be right at home here.
