Just like 2024s D23 Expo, Stitch has crashed the Honda Center again, this time, to confirm the sequel and a fun new addition to the cast.
Stitch Will Face More Experiments
During Disney’s Entertainment Showcase Friday night, the studio shared a teaser for Lilo & Stitch 2 revealing the addition of Stitch’s pink counterpart Angel. Also known as Experiment 624. Angel is a pink, fluffy alien created by Dr. Jumba Jookiba. She is the female counterpart and primary love interest of Stitch (Experiment 626), whom they affectionately call “boojiboo”. She first debuted in Lilo & Stitch: The Series on Disney Channel.
Lilo & Stitch 2, the sequel to the not-so-surprising $1 billion hit live-action remake of the animated classic, will hit theaters on May 26, 2028. Chris Sanders the voice of Stitch and the co-creator and director of the original 2002 animated feature film Lilo & Stitch, is taking over directing duties.
The 2025 film starred Newcomer Maia Kealoha stars as Lilo Pelekai, Zach Galifianakis as the voice of Dr. Jumba Jookiba, Billy Magnussen as the voice of Agent Pleakley, Sydney Agudong as Nani Pelekai, Kaipo Dudoit as David Kawena, Tia Carrere as Mrs. Kekoa, Courtney B. Vance as Cobra Bubbles, Amy Hill as Tūtū, and Jason Scott Lee as a luau manager.
No word yet on any plot details but do not expect this to be a remake of any of the animated sequels but it is expected to pull characters from those movies/shows. Additionally, Agudong, Galifianakis, Magnussen, and Vance are all expected to return for the sequel.
The 2002 original animated film grossed over $273 million worldwide. It was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 75th Academy Awards, but lost to Spirited Away. The film’s success made it a highlight of Disney’s post-animation renaissance era in the 2000s spawning multiple direct-to-DVD sequels, a TV series, shorts, video games, and more.
