Annecy Festival Is Finally Here
Netflix has brought a ton of Anime favorites to Annecy Festival. The streaming giants latest reveals have some familiar faces. But, There are also some real surprises for viewers waiting in this deluge of announcements.
That Hollywood Show has a roundup of all the anime series and movies that Netflix decided to pack in their suitcase for France. As the streamer continues to build that growing anime portfolio, the future looks bright for animation on the platform.
Netflix Goes Hard On Anime This Fall
Recent years has seen Netflix really roll out the red carpet for animated features. Today, at the Anisee International Animation Film Festival, their anime studio highlighted some delightful upcoming titles. Different animation studios and creators are excited to tell these stories on streaming and beyond.
There are familiar faces like One Piece and Blue Eye Samurai season two in Here. But, a lot of new content as well. Series like Sparks of Tomorrow, Fool Night, The Ribbon Hero, and Bass X Machina are all ready to greet viewers on Netflix soon. Check out the full list of titles for yourself down below!

Netflix and WIT Studio Present: The One Piece
Anime fans are plenty familiar with WIT Studio. They’ve brought to life some amazing stories like Attack on Titan and Spy x Family. But, their brand-new adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s worldwide phenomenon is amazingly ambtious.
Produced by WIT Studio, THE ONE PIECE is a brand new anime adaptation starting from the very beginning of the original manga’s East Blue saga.
Separate from the TV anime series that has charged full speed ahead over the course of more than 25 years, this series taps into the expressive potential of modern technology to offer a familiar yet fresh take on the adventures of Luffy.
In February 2027, fans will take to the seas with Luffy again. Director Masashi Koizuka recaptures the magic of this series in it’s earliest moments. WIT Studio has been trusted with one of Anime’s true blue-chip properties and the results are astonishing.
Blue Eye Samurai – Season 2
Welcome back to the mature nuanced world of Blue Eye Samurai. Netflix’s Emmy-award-winning series returns for season two. Mizu has been looking for revenge in every corner, and her journey continues in a brand new locale. Expect emotional depth and stunning swordplay when the series hits the streamer soon.
In Season 2, Mizu’s bloody quest continues in London, where she faces new friends, old foes, and her own demons. In Japan, Akemi and Taigen navigate Edo Castle under a dangerous new Shogun, while Ringo searches for new purpose.
The Ribbon Hero
This one looks like a gas. A new retelling of Princess Knight by Osamu Tezuka. The Ribbon Hero is directed by Yuki Igarashi. Twin Engine produces a kinetic stylish effort from Outline animation studio. Netflix streams this one on August 8, 2026. Here’s a new description!
Yuki Igarashi, regarded as one of the industry’s most versatile animators, directs the film. He first drew wide attention for the sophisticated animation he handled alone as key animator on the ending sequence of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1.
His directorial debut, Star Wars: Visions – Lop & Ochō, received high praise in Japan and abroad for its delicate storytelling and dynamic action scenes. THE RIBBON HERO marks Igarashi’s first time directing a feature-length film.
Bringing together a team of highly skilled creators, the film depicts the story of a lone hero who chooses to defy a harsh destiny, set in a delicately crafted world and brought to life through polished action.
Netflix’s Bass X Machina
If you’ve been paying any attention at all, Netflix adult animated slate has been a strength for years now. Brian Tyree Henry stars in Bass X Machina. The latest etrant into the adult animated series arena. Netflix’s new show premieres October 6, 2026.

Fool Night
If you like your Body horror to revolve around plants, you’re going to love Fool Night. Netflix is new animated thriller series sees director Atsushi Yukawa take on a harrowing story in a post apocalyptic world. Studio Sunrise and Shaft team up to bring us this tense adventure on the streamer.
Transfloration— a technology that implants seeds into the bodies of those near death, transforming them into plants. It is the desperate measure humanity has chosen to ensure its survival. In a distant future where thick clouds cover the sky, trapping Earth in constant winter and night, most of the planet’s vegetation has withered away.
Facing a serious oxygen shortage, humanity has built a society that relies on the meager amount of oxygen provided by Transfloration. A young man, Toshiro Kamiya, lives in poverty and works hard to pay taxes, cover living expenses, and afford medication for his mentally ill mother. However, the cruel reality around him gradually eats away at his hope.

Sparks of Tomorrow
Definitely more upbeat story, Sparks of Tomorrow thinks about an alternate history. What If Steam Power was the path we set upon instead of electricity? This new anime from Kyoto Animation poses that question. One boy dreams an electric fantasy, while the world thinks he’s absolutely delusional. Director Minoru Ota molds this gorgeous series.
In an alternate version of the early 20th century where technological progress evolved along a different path shaped by steam power, Kyoto is blanketed in constant smoke. A boy, hardened by the loss of his brother, grows distrustful after their shared dream of an “Age of Electricity” is cut short.
A deeply devout girl hides her dreams and regrets for her deceased mother deep within her heart. When the two cross paths, they set about exploring the secrets of the 20th Century Electrical Catalog, a glimpse into the future they long for. Together, they must confront their pasts and carve a path toward the future they once believed in.
Sparks of Tomorrow comes out on July 5, 2026!
