Shawn has spent the majority of his life at the movie theater. He started out, at the mere age of five, seeing “Starship Troopers” with his dad… and everything was forever changed, from there on out. In high school, he spent his days making home-movies with his friends and working at the local cinema. In his twenties, he re-located to San Francisco and spent his time in the restaurant industry. Now in his thirties, he is concentrating on his career in substance abuse counseling as well as his passion, critiquing films and television.

Industry Experience

Shawn has spent the last six years on his YouTube channel “Lost in the Reel”, reviewing films and TV shows. He’s also been critiquing movies on “That Hashtag Show” for almost just as long. In addition, Shawn is a proud member of “GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ+ Entertainment Critics”.

Shawn is a lover and champion of independent films, and often concentrates his coverage on hidden gems or movies that might often be overlooked by mainstream audiences. As a member of GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ+ Entertainment Critics, he is a huge advocate for queer cinema and continues to make it his duty to shine a spotlight on LGBTQ+ Entertainment. He also is a self-diagnosed horror buff.
