The Fan-Favorite Finally Comes Home
Disney and Pixar celebrate Toy Story 5 finally coming home to Disney plus. The animated smash hit is exclusively streaming on Disney streaming service. And, video game fans get a surprise as a new Fortnite adventure is available for a limited time. Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jesse are all here with the rest of the game to experience the latest installment in the Toy Story franchise. Toy Story 5 Streaming Now on Disney+
Woody, Buzz and Jessie are back in Toy Story 5 on Disney+. The new movie is finally streaming at home! This is a good thing for Toy Story lovers, as the franchise sits at over 2 billion hours viewed on Disney+. People in theaters powered Toy Story 5 to a billion dollars at the box office. Now, you can re-live the magic for yourself here at home. And, there’s another fun surprise on-deck.
Fortnite is launching Toy Story 5: The Great Toy Rescue as a two-week limited-time activaton. From September 22 through October 5, gamers can build a unique experience for themselves inside of the game! Fortnite’s latest mode went live in the game yesterday. But, a lot of people are becoming aware of the new activation because of today’s announcement!
Who helped make this film?
Academy Award-winner Andrew Stanton directs Toy Story 5 alongside Kenna Harris. Producers for the film include Lindsey Collins and Jessica Choi. Stanton pulled double-duty as writer with Harris as well.
One of the big surprises from the unveiling of Toy Story 5 was the involvement of Taylor Swift. Her original song “I Knew It, I Knew You” is produced by Jack Antonoff alongside Swift. You can expect to see that one on-stage at the Oscars for the original song category. And, the original score comes to us from Randy Newman. He’s scored five Toy Story features, and it’s always nice to hear his work!
What’s the story this time?
The toys are back in Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story 5,” and this time it’s Toy meets Tech. Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of the gang’s jobs are challenged when they come face-to-face with Lilypad, a brand-new tablet device that arrives with her own disruptive ideas about what is best for their kid, Bonnie. Will playtime ever be the same?
Director Andrew Stanton was blown away that Taylor Swift wanted to be a part of this project. Her fanbase showed up in a big way for the film. Also, the main story of the 5th movie really pulled at the heartstrings. (A staple for the franchise at this point.) Check out what he had to say in an official statement.
“It’s incredible just how meaningful it’s been having Taylor write and perform this song. Her connection to Jessie and the immediate way she understood what the character was going through was undeniable. The song is so deeply connected to ‘Toy Story,’” Stanton mused. “So much so that on first listen, it instantly felt like it had always belonged there, like a long-lost family member. It was kismet.”
