Cookie Queens Gets A New Trailer
Cookie Queens finally has a trailer for one of the most heart-warming entries from SXSW this year. Roadside Attractions and Vertical are excited to present this coming-of-age story. Director Alysa Nahmias tells the story of four girls looking to make the mostt out of their time selling Girl Scout Cookies. There’s intrigue, friendship and more on the horizon.
After seeing this trailer you’ll enjoy the journey that Ara, Shannon Elizabeth, Nikki and Olive go on in the quest to make it big during Girl Scout season. We’ve all talked about how much these kinds of all-ages stories have been missed in theaters. Now’s your chance to rectify that. Check out the trailer for yourself up above.
Here’s a synopsis for the film. “A celebration of girlhood and the complexities that come with it, Cookie Queens is a coming-of-age story about the joys, pressures, and tensions woven into one of America’s most cherished rituals: Girl Scout Cookie season.”

THS’s Take On This Lovable Film
As we mentioned up top, cookie Queens fills a sorely needed niche in the theater landscape right now. Simply put, we don’t really make movies for young people that aren’t animated very often anymore. The days of a mid or low budget film making its way to the theater for younger audiences is on the decline. All you have to do is look at the list of recent releases and you’ll see for yourself.
(Bonus points if you can find me an example that doesn’t rely on being a live action remake of a previously animated title. Or, A reboot or sequel effort that is also based on existing IP. Hard to find? You can’t even imagine!)
Still, this is where a movie like Cookie Queens could really end up surprising people in that last frame of summer. These four girls are likable, they’re a relatable goal in mind for them, and the draw of this kind of story is going to be pretty much universal. So, if you’re looking for some family friendly entertainment across the spectrum, you’re gonna find a lot to like with Cookie Queens.
Who produced the film?
