Sony Pictures finds new writer for Zorro x Django team-up!
Zorro and Django Unchained ride again in a new project from Sony Pictures. Quentin Tarantino & Matt Wagner’s Dynamite Entertainment comic book serves as inspiration for the new movie!
Zorro and Django back in the saddle!
Sony Pictures is uniting Zorro and Django in a big screen project. Quentin Tarantino and Matt Wagner published a Dynamite Entertainment comic book series featuring the two heroes. Now, Academy Award-winner Brian Helgeland will write the meeting of these two cinematic heroes. Sunny Pictures is keen on the project as they’ve been looking for something to do with Zorro for quite some time.
Helgeland comes with quite a pedigree after writing Mystic River and LA Confidential. Dynamite Entertainment’s seven-issue crossover comic book series will likely give the scribe enough material to craft a two hour narrative as well.
Though the book stems from 2014, it represents some of the only material to expand on the Django Unchained mythos that so many film fans enjoyed. Though, Tarantino will not be aboard as a director according to Deadline.

Django X Zorro gets a new writer!
Speaking of the fame swashbuckler, Banderas has been very protective of the Zorro moniker. Not too long ago, the star was asked by ComicBook about who would play the iconic hero. If he had to hand down the mantle to someone else, who would he choose?. Banderas named Tom Holland as a prospective swordsman, and the Internet was very amused by it.
“Yes, I would, I would consider that possibility, why not?” Banderas said to the outlet. “Yeah, I think today, I said something like that to somebody. They asked me about Zorro. If they called me to do Zorro, I would do what Anthony Hopkins did for me, which is to pass the torch.”
There is no current release date for the new Zorro. The movie remains in development over at Sony. Keep up with us here to see the latest updates!
