A Final Look at ‘Wicker’ Coming Friday
Black Bear Pictures has seen the overwhelming positive reviews for “Wicker” and has released a final trailer showcasing the outpouring of love for this beautifully weird movie about love and lust. Starring Academy Award winner Olivia Colman, Golden Globe winner Alexander Skarsgård, Emmy Award winners Peter Dinklage, and Elizabeth Debicki, the film follows a frumpy fisherwoman (Colman) left to her own devices who pays a dude (Dinklage) to make her a man out of wicker baskets (Skarsgård). Yeah, you already know this is going to be a strange concept, but look at the material, the actors, especially.
The problem with making a man instead of meeting one is that you never know quite what you’re going to get. Which is exactly what the movie is about. Wicker man turns out to be way more charming and soulful than anyone expected. Naturally, wicker man’s arrival throws the entire village into utter chaos.
Making the Wicker Golem Come to Life
Directed and adapted by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson (Save Yourselves!), based on Ursula Wills’ acclaimed short story “The Wicker Husband,” this wild romance story boasts an incredible creative team, including a score by Anna Meredith and stunning visuals from the crew behind “Poor Things” and “The Brutalist.”
Obviously the most astounding thing about the trailer and film itself is how the team was able to bring Skarsgård’s wicker self to life. From his hair down to his toes, the actor is actually in a fully practical suit, created by Joe Dunckley and the acclaimed, Academy Award® winning design shop, Wētā Workshop (“Avatar,” “The Lord of The Rings”).
