One of the most legendary, hilarious, and prolific directors of our time, Rob Reiner, has passed away at the age of 78. The cause of death is unknown at this moment, but on Sunday night, he and his wife Michele Singer were found dead at their Brentwood home in Los Angeles.

TMZ is reporting that the two suffered lacerations consistent with a knife. The LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division is still investigating.

Reiner was the son of Carl Reiner, another legendary comedy director. Reiner was born in New York City to Estelle Reiner and Carl Reiner. He directed classic movies like This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men, Misery, Stand By Me, and plenty of others. He also has 90 acting credits to his name in an over 60-year career in Hollywood. His final film was Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, which saw the band get back together in Spinal Tap for one last concert.
