Zendaya Boards Alex Garland’s New Sci-Fi A24 Project

A24 Beams Up Another Star

Alex Garland’s new science fiction movie just got one of the brightest stars in the universe. Zendaya is reportedly joining his latest effort according to Deadline. Garland’s track record as of late has been stellar. And, this will probably get a ton of movie fans excited about the prospect of seeing one of their faves in outer space. Check out what we know of the project so far right here!

Zendaya signs on for Alex Garland’s new movie

It’s time for a different kind of Euphoria as Zendaya is reportedly entering the bridge of Alex Garland’s new Sci-Fi project. Details about the new movie are being kept under wraps. But, with Garland’s last project Civil War being both a commerical and critical success for the studio, expect a big swing.

For Zendaya, this is yet another project as the Internet’s favorite IT girl has been booked and busy throughout 2026. The Drama, The Odyssey, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, The Drama and Euphoria have all happened in such a short amount of time. (Well, the release of Euphoria anyway!) Don’t forget to come on back to the theater for Dune: Part Three in December by the way.

Garland continues a prosperous relationship with A24

This filmmaker’s recent run isn’t too shabby either. Garland has been locked-in with A24 for a minute now. Besides Civil War, he’s helmed Ex Machina, Warfare, and Men. Now, he’s got a massive undertaking as he brings Elden Ring to the big screen for the studio too. It will be interesting to see what he can do with the massive profile he’s amassed. The bar for video game adaptations has quite literally never been higher.

A great 2026 for this star in everything she touched

To be blunt, Zendaya owned the summer of 2026 in a way. She was in the two highest-grossing movies of that frame. And, the staggering amount of work put down in the past five years is going to be studied one day. It’s interesting that this Garland movie will likely be her first massive science fiction role.

She’s been delightful planetside in almost everything sent her way. But, the genre can be tricky even for the most seasoned filmmakers. However, that’s probably not a concern for Garland. Ex Machina is every bit as good as the critics claimed it was back when that movie released. Now, everyone’s eyes shift to the stars for whatever comes next.

What was Zendaya’s most recent project?

Well, that would be runaway box office hit and audience darling Spider-Man: Brand New Day. She was alongside her beau Tom Holland as MJ again. And, things were different this time. For starters, they’re both older in that film and the meet-cute warmth of Jon Watt’s previous Spidey efforts only peeked through in small windows.

But, Zendaya’s personal moments as MJ really formed some of the film’s strongest moments. So many critics were electrified by her acting on that rooftop. That movie is finally streaming at home and on-demand.
