BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity only just had its theatrical premiere from June 25–29, 2026. All to tease the upcoming July streaming premiere of the same on Hulu. It’s a much, much long-awaited debut for fans of Tite Kubo’s manga, which ended all the way back in August 2016 with the Thousand-Year Blood War arc. We’ve been waiting a decade for an anime adaptation of that arc, and soon, we will finally get it. But first, we have a little treat for attendees of Anime Expo 2026.
BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity is proud to have put on a screening at the Crypto Arena at Anime Expo 2026. Said screening was basically a screening of the first episode by Viz Media, plus the debut of a new trailer for this upcoming conclusion to the BLEACH anime. The screening also featured an appearance by both Masakazu Morita, the Japanese voice of Ichigo Kurosaki, and Johnny Yong Bosch, the English voice of the same. Both voice actors met to share behind-the-scenes stories from their days voicing the hero of Tite Kubo’s most famous work, as well as being one of the most iconic figures in anime history. Thousands of fans flocked to the Crypto Arena to see this, and I suspect even more will want to see what comes next.
All because Viz Media also reveals that BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity will finally start its streaming debut on July 25, 2026 exclusively on Hulu and Disney+. Not only that, but they even have an official synopsis for this arc for us today. You can check out that synopsis below:

Destruction looms at the end of the Thousand-Year Blood War between the Soul Reapers and Quincies…
The Royal Guard Squad Zero confronts Yhwach as he attempts to enter the Royal Palace. However, the Quincy King and his Royal Guard shatter Squad Zero’s powerful Bankai and finally steps into the Reio Greater Palace.
Ichibe Hyosube entrusts Ichigo Kurosaki and his allies to protect the Soul King, but due to Yhwach’s trickery, Ichigo cuts down the Soul King with his sword.
The death of the Soul King mirrors the collapse of the Three Worlds, as distortions and omens of destruction start to appear in all realms.
The Thirteen Court Guard Squads join forces with the surviving Quincies and head for the Royal Palace, but it’s fallen under the control of the Wandenreich, who have transformed it into the Wahr Welt. The Royal Guard wait for them within the castle, ominously towering against the sky.
Fierce battles then erupt throughout the Wahr Welt between the Thirteen Court Guard Squads and the Royal Guard. Ichigo learns about Uryu’s true intentions and renews his determination to protect the world together, as friends who trust each other.

BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity Wows Crowds at Anime Expo 2026 Just Before Streaming Debut
Honestly, for better or worse, BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity is one of the most long-awaited anime adaptations in existence. Not least of which is because of the length of time we’ve been waiting to see this arc in anime form. Yes, people have had mixed feelings on the arc itself. Tite Kubo wrote a very odd and complex story when writing the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, after all. It might not be to everyone’s tastes. But, all I can say that animation studio Studio Pierrot looks like they have a very well-done anime masterpiece here for us to judge for ourselves.
