By now, even people who aren’t normally regular viewers of anime would still be familiar with My Hero Academia. After all, this anime adaptation of the manga of the same name by Kōhei Horikoshi has left the dark niches behind and has firmly become mainstream. It’s no wonder why when you take a look at it. After 170 episodes over 8 seasons (not counting OVAs and the special bonus epilogue episode) over the course of a decade, it has plenty of content for fans to enjoy. It’s not just the episode count though.
The music composed by Yuki Hayashi also played a huge role in its explosive popularity. That music likely played a big role in why special soundtracks saw the light of day specifically for the anime’s 10th anniversary. The first was “Hero too”, which was the soundtrack for the “I Am a Hero Too” OVA short. Now though, there will be a second.
Toho Animation is proud to announce a special version of “You Say Run” for the 10th anniversary of My Hero Academia. This version will still see Yuki Hayashi as the composer. However, the vocals will be from German electronicore band Electric Callboy, known for their hit songs “Hypa Hypa” and their BABYMETAL collaboration “RATATATA”. This special version of “You Say Run” originally made its debut at the “My Hero Academia IN CONCERT” stage in London, UK on September 20, 2026. However, it will soon make its global debut on September 22, 2026. You can stream it directly from music websites such as Apple Music, Spotify, and iTunes Store.

Honestly, if anything is proof that My Hero Academia has gone mainstream, this is it. You can’t get any more mainstream than the news of a special 10th anniversary edition of an anime soundtrack getting this much attention. It doesn’t take a genius to see why either. The basic premise of My Hero Academia‘s story involving the clash of superheroes and supervillains resonates with a lot of Western audiences raised on Marvel and DC stories that deal with the same themes. Really, all My Hero Academia does is deliver those themes through a Japanese lens in a way that makes it quite riveting to those Western audiences.
It’s not just the story though. Yuki Hayashi has been absolutely instrumental to making My Hero Academia as popular as it is right now. It’s no surprise either. Hayashi has been known for some outstanding work composing the music for various anime and live-action series, including the Zettai Reido, Diabolik Lovers, and Haikyu!!. Fans of those anime and live-action series will recognize his distinct beats in those soundtracks as well, giving his new work here for that 10th annivery special edition of “You Say Run” quite a bit of weight behind it.
