The musical biopic saga continues to roll with Wind of Change about the Scorpions. The new film all about the band’s legacy and story is coming to theaters in Spring 2027 from Roadside Attractions. Deadline was first with the news about the release date. The German rock band has been around for over 50 years at this point and they’re still going strong with tours and new music. Winds of Change will first release in their home country of Germany in January 2027.

The film follows the band from their roots in 1965 all the way through their rise to superstardom, culminating in the release of their 1991 track ‘Wind of Change’. That song came to be a symbol for hope amongst those who wanted to see the East and West come together after decades under communist rule. The song was released after a failed coup that led to the end of the Soviet Union. The single has sold over 14M copies worldwide.

Wind of Change was directed by Alex Ranarivelo and was written by Mark Andrews. It stars Alexander Dreymon as guitarist Rudolf Schenker, Ludwig Trepte as singer Klaus Meine, Ed Speleers as guitarist Matthias Jabs, Luke Brandon Field as drummer Herman Rarebell, and Dominic West as Doc McGhee, the band’s music manager.

Here’s what Prentiss Fraser, President of Fox Entertainment Global had to say about the film.

“The Scorpions remain true global rock stars, continuing to sell out venues around the world, from their native Germany to Mexico and the U.S., while their music continues to resonate across generations. Wind of Change captures the compelling journey of a band whose ambitions extended far beyond fame—whose music crossed borders and bridged political divides, inspiring profound change. It is a film with iconic music, a powerful story that can connect with viewers well beyond the band’s longtime fans, and the scale and energy of a major theatrical experience—one we’re proud to bring to audiences alongside our great partners at Roadside Attractions and Warner Bros. Germany.”

The Scorpions are one of the most successful hard rock/heavy metal bands in history with more than 110 million albums sold worldwide. They’re one of the most successful German artists ever and continue to tour the world to this day. They recently announced a new string of dates for 2027.
