Viz Media was proud to announce their slate of upcoming anime series at their showcase at Anime Expo 2026. Their list of anime they want to bring to NA shores is quite extensive. The stars of the show are the upcoming anime adaptation of MAO by Rumiko Takahashi (Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha) that is scheduled to start streaming on Disney+ on August 24, 2026; the greenlighting of the long-awaited RWBY Volume 10, and a behind the scenes look at the upcoming anime adaptation of BLACK TORCH with the English dub voice actors AJ Beckles (Jiro) and Keith Silverstein (Rago). Alas, there is no actual video for that behind the scenes look at BLACK TORCH, but it is currently streaming on Crunchyroll. It’s a trio of anime (and anime-inspired series for RWBY) that fans will surely be looking forward to.
Ah, but I’ve kept you all waiting long enough. Here’s the full anime slate that Viz Media wants to bring to NA below:
MAO Coming to Hulu on Disney+
From legendary manga creator Rumiko Takahashi (Inuyasha, Ranma ½, Urusei Yatsura), the supernatural mystery series MAO will premiere dubbed on Hulu on Disney+ beginning August 24, bringing one of Takahashi’s newest hit manga to English-speaking audiences.
RWBY Volume 10 Officially Greenlit
VIZ officially confirmed that RWBY Volume 10 has been greenlit, marking the next chapter in the globally beloved franchise.
Since its inception, the RWBY franchise has captivated audiences worldwide, accumulating over 350 million global views across platforms, with episodes averaging more than 7 million views. Fans have followed Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang since the series debut in 2013. Since then, the world of “RWBY” has expanded its IP into print media, video games, merchandise, and multiple spinoffs, including “RWBY: Ice Queendom,” and two crossover “Justice League x RWBY” films.
BLACK TORCH Cast Shares Behind-the-Scenes Stories
Following the successful Anime Expo premiere of BLACK TORCH, English voice actors AJ Beckles (Jiro) and Keith Silverstein (Rago) joined fans for an inside look at bringing the supernatural action series to life, sharing stories from the recording booth and discussing the adaptation of Tsuyoshi Takaki’s acclaimed manga.
RWBY Volume 10 Announcement the Highlight of VIZ Media
Honestly, while all of these anime series are potential interesting, I think most people here will be excited for the one series that isn’t actually an anime: RWBY Volume 10. Volume 9 last ended its run on March 30, 2024; after all. We’ve basically been sitting for over two years with no RWBY news in the slightest. You know, right up until we got this bit of news at Anime Expo 2026. The fans probably went wild after that.
Alas, while it is good news, it’s also bad simply for the sheer lack of additional information beyond that greenlighting. It basically means that Viz Media have only just started working on that tenth volume. Thus, having only just started, it means that we won’t see RWBY Volume 10 for a long, long, LONG time. It will probably see a 2027 release, or maybe even a 2028 release depending on how long they take. Alas, all we can do is cross our fingers and hope that production of Volume 10 goes well there.
What do you think of all of these anime series Viz Media is bringing to us here in NA? Does either MAO, RWBY Volume 10, or BLACK TORCH catch your eye? Out of curiosity, how many RWBY fans here screaming your collective heads off at the news of Volume 10’s greenlighting? Tell us your anime (and not so anime) thoughts in the comments section below.
