Toho Co., Ltd. is one of the largest entertainment companies in the world right now, and is responsible for some of the biggest franchises in the world, including Godzilla and Pokémon. Meanwhile, Nijisanji is one of the most famous VTuber agencies in the world, despite a number of controversies that have wracked the agency. So what do these two companies have to do with each other? Well, normally, they wouldn’t have much to do with each other at all. However, this is an exception to that rule, as you can see in the title. And all for the now-concluded Anime Expo 2026 to boot.
Toho Animation and Nijisanji are proud to announce a collaboration between them for a special report on Anime Expo 2026. Specifically, while this special report will cover all of AX 2026, there will be a strong focus on the Toho Animation since, well, this whole report is being funded by Toho. Numerous hosts and guests will discuss what Toho has been up to at AX 2026, with a particular focus on My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, The Apothecary Diaries, and Though I Am an Inept Villainess. In fact, speaking of hosts, we have a pair of them who will be our hosts for this report. Virtual live-streamers Shu Yamino and Meloco Kyoran, who are both members of the global VTuber project “NIJISANJI EN” will be our program hosts for this report. All entirely in English audio, with Japanese subtitles for audiences watching from Japan.

Honestly, my opinion is that this special report is a bit late. Anime Expo 2026 happened a month ago from Thursday, July 2, 2026 to Sunday, July 5, 2026. A report on the events of AX 2026 that’s debuting a month later means that it’s happening just a bit too late, with all the hype for the convention having long since died down. This feels like something that should’ve debuted a week or two after AX 2026.
However, if you didn’t get the chance to visit AX 2026, then this is a chance to experience it secondhand. This is especially true if you’re a fan of My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, The Apothecary Diaries, and / or Though I Am an Inept Villainess. If you want to learn some behind the scenes stuff about those anime series, then this is the video for you. At least, it will be tomorrow as of this writing, when that special report will make its YouTube debut. Well, you won’t have long to wait for it. In fact, by the time you read this story, you might already be able to watch it.
