Beware Boiúna Trailer Will Give You Chills
Lionsgate presents the official trailer for Beware Boiúna. This creature feature takes audiences to the Amazon, where some unlucky medical workers have their hands full with a giant snake. Leave it to director Mike P. Nelson to draft up a concept so unhinged. So, cop some tickets before you head to the theater on October 2. And, check it out for yourself!
This fresh take on a giant snake movie stars Kiana Madeira, Jessica Rothe, and Logan Marshall-Green. Alan McElroy penned the screenplay with story help from Tony Giglio. Nelson’s deft camera movements and escalating tension pair nicely with this kind of film. If you’re a fan of movies like Anaconda, or Snakes on A Plane, this one will probably be right up your alley.
Girl, You Are In Danger!
Our protagonist in Beware Boiúna is of mixed ancestry. She belongs to both Colombian and Brazilian cultures. Kiana Madeira carries that fact with great pride. That Hollywood Show talked with the star about the decision to have Lena straddle those lines at Fantastic Fest. Talking to our Junior Felix, she said, “I wanted to really add in that she also comes from a Colombian parent and a Brazilian parent.” The ways they intersect within the Amazon was appealing to the creative team.
““I love the way it was written in terms of her arc and the evolution that she gets to go on, I love that,” Madeira told us. “I mean, not the best-case scenario to have to go through such extreme circumstances to really accept the fact that where you grew up embraced you all along. Sometimes it really is in our own minds, in our own resistance, that really holds us back from being embraced.”
What are we dealing with in this movie?
Deep in the Amazon, a medical mission spirals into a fight for survival when Boiúna, a colossal ancient predator, awakens to reclaim her domain. In the jungle where nature holds absolute power, she decides who lives and who dies.
Our critics had a great time with Beware Boiúna down at the festival. Rachel Tolleson said as much in her review. “There is nothing cheesy about Beware Boiúna, and it makes that abundantly clear,” she explained. “The strength in its storytelling involves the emotional core of Alli, Lena, and Brennan and how their separate journeys converge. Rothe and Madeira have off-the-wall chemistry, to the point where it feels like the film should have been marketed towards their relationship.”
