‘Star Wars Icons: Vader’ All Set To Give Us Darth Vader’s Complete History

Any fan of Star Wars will readily remember Darth Vader. After all, he was the major villain for the entirety of the Original Trilogy, starting with the original Star Wars all the way back in 1977. The looming presence of David Prowse combined with the booming voice of James Earl Jones resulted in an incredibly intimidating villain who carried terror with him wherever he went in the galaxy. While at the same time, capturing our hearts with that same villainous performance. After all, a good story needs a good villain to oppose the good guys, and Darth Vader played that role perfectly. Fans might wonder though: where did Darth Vader come from? How did George Lucas come up with such a wonderfully terrible villain? Well, fans will need not look further for much longer.

Insight Editions is proud to announce their upcoming new deep dive into Darth Vader: Star Wars Icons: Vader by Anthony Breznican. This upcoming book will be “an unprecedented exploration of Darth Vader’s journey, from the character’s genesis in George Lucas’s first drafts of Star Wars to Anakin Skywalker’s tragic fall to the dark side in the prequel trilogy, and beyond”. All written by an author and Hollywood correspondent who has “covered film, television, books, and awards for more than 20 years and has developed a special expertise on the Star Wars franchise that shines through these two amazing works”.

Standard Edition vs. Collectors Edition

Star Wars Icons: Vader will be available in two editions: a standard edition and a collector’s edition. The standard edition has a retail price of $225 USD (not including shipping and handling, taxes, and other additional charges).

Meanwhile, the collector’s edition of Star Wars Icons: Vader costs $450 USD. What makes this collector’s edition so special that it costs twice the price of the standard edition, you might ask? Well, as you can see above, it comes with a “die-cast metal coin emblem of Vader’s helmet”, with the logo embossed onto the spine, although you can’t see it from this angle. What you can see though is the “black-on-black laser-cut slipcase” that will contain both the book and that emblem. Last but not least, this edition will also contain an “11” x 15” framed bas relief, sculpted in polyresin and hand-finished with matte and gloss detailing”.

Honestly, this seems like the perfect book for the fans of the very deep Star Wars lore. I don’t mean the obsure lore found in the most niche of Star Wars books. I’m talking about the lore that exists behind the scenes. How the character known as Darth Vader came to be in the mind of George Lucas, how did David Prowse and James Earl Jones come to play him, and all that jazz. If you’re into that kind of movie magic, then this is definitely the Vader deep dive book for you.

Really, the only obstacle here is the price. At $225 even for the cheapest edition, Star Wars Icons: Vader will require a significant investment in funds before you can get it. Honestly, that sort of price might be beyond a lot of average people, what with the economy these days thanks to the angry orange toddler in the Oval Office right now. You might need to save up for a bit before you can get it.
