Lionsgate bringing even more Horor
This is a big bet on an emerging filmmaker with Portrait of God. Lionsgate acquired Dylan Clark’s upcoming Horror project. After a viral short spread across social media, Clark nets Chase Infinity to star in this new movie. Getting the One Battle After Another star to join the horror project is an absolute coup for Lionsgate. Needless to say, the Horror creator to big auteur filmmaker pipeline continues unabated. Here’s everything we know about Portrait of God right here.
Dylan Clark’s new Horror project stars Chase Infiniti
Portrait of God will come to theaters from Lionsgate now after today’s big news. Dylan Clark’s viral short has been bubbling online since 2022. And, now we’re closer than ever to seeing a full film on-screen. As an added bonus, Clark has secured Chase Infiniti as part of the cast. You probably remember her from One Battle After Another. The director himself offered a comment when the news broke.
Clark said, “With Blair Witch, I’m experiencing firsthand the trust Lionsgate places in its filmmakers, and I couldn’t be happier that Portrait of God has found a home there as well. I’m also thrilled to welcome Chase Infiniti to our team. She blew me away in One Battle After Another and is one of the most exciting young actors working today.”

A massive statement for Lionsgate
The massive upswing for horror in the last six years cannot be understated. The genre has always been popular and the Multiplex and at home. But, the twenty twenties have used horror as a crutch to get back in the game when it comes to the larger entertainment landscape. Lionsgate realizes this inherent advantage, and went looking for the future of the genre. Where better than social media where the proof of concept is already signed, sealed and delivered?
Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group said, “We’re delighted to deepen our creative partnership with Dylan Clark, whose remarkable talent and distinctive perspective make him one of the most exciting emerging voices in horror. With Sam and Jordan, two of the genre’s most influential producers, the extraordinary Chase Infiniti starring, and Dylan at the helm, this is an exceptional creative team. We believe they have all the ingredients for a film that is haunting, thought-provoking, and scary as hell.”
THS’s Take!
The Horror victory lap continues. Portrait of God has a couple of added bonuses during this production cycle as well. It’s easy to get people on board when Jordan Peele and Sam Raimi are among the producers. Raymie and Rob Tappert’s Ghost House help produce alongside Monkey Paw Productions. That kind of cred is hard to come by in a crowded entertainment landscape, and should help ease any concerns.
In addition, the premise of a haunted painting stalking this poor girl is something that is easily legible and broad enough to encourage a ton of social media speculation. In fact, that’s a large reason why Clark was discovered in the first place. All in all, a banner year for horror isn’t even done yet.
