Tubi and R.L. Stine announce Afraid of Clowns

Spooky Season is here and Tubi is making Afraid of Clowns. R.L. Stine’s latest project will hit the free streaming platform in 2027! This is just the latest collaboration with the Goosebumps author. A whole new cast of characters will get in on the fun with these terrifying entertainers.

Afraid of Clowns stars Frankie Honey, Ava Ferrer, Azriel Dalman, Joe Moore, and Jimbo (of Drag Race fame and fortune!). We’re back in Redhaven after the events of Pumpkinhead and Pumpkinhead 2. And, there’s a whole host of new scares waiting on the poor people of this town. We’ve got some plot details for you after the jump!

Tubi welcomes more R.L. Stine

“R.L. Stine has been the first taste of fear for legions of fans—and the beginning of a lifelong love of horror,” said Adam Lewinson, Chief Content Officer, Tubi. “Tubi’s collection of R.L. Stine movies gives longtime fans more of the stories that sparked their imaginations, while welcoming new audiences to the thrill of being scared.”\

The man himself also had to give a comment! “Clowns have been scaring kids long before I ever got to them – I just gave them a reason to be afraid of the ones in Redhaven,” said R.L. Stine. “Tubi has been a great home for these stories and I can’t wait to introduce viewers to meet Ringmaster Rollo.”

What’s the new movie about?

When Ringmaster Rollo and his mysterious clown troupe arrive in Redhaven, Frankie discovers their visit may be connected to a child who vanished years ago. Convinced they’ve now set their sights on her little brother, Frankie must convince her friends to help uncover the truth and stop the clowns before her brother disappears with them for good.

THS’s take on the new chapter!

We’re big fans of horror here at that Hollywood show. And a lot of that love of horror began in childhood. Seeing programs like IT, the original Goosebumps series, and a host of movies we weren’t old enough to actually be watching built a stable foundation for the rest of our lives. Maybe you’re like some of us and it isn’t just watching those old shows, but reading R.L. Stine’s work too!

Afraid of Clowns is bringing that experience to a new generation. Pumpkinhead and its sequel also performed the same role for a lot of younger viewers. Terror On Tubi has its own dedicated hub in the app now. And, it makes for an easy entry point for anyone more curious about Horror and the wonderful work in the genre. Good on Tubi for helping push the genre out more.
