A Mysterious Pin Gets Some Answers
Paul Walter Hauser actually caused a small stir during the premiere for Resident Evil. The fan-favorite comedian stars in Zach Cregger’s take on the venerated Horror franchise. A small pin on his lapel had some fairly sinister implications. After all, it’s not everyday you see ominous coordinates listed with no other information available. But, the actor explained what was going on in an interview with Variety. Some people thought it was just a nod to something from the Resident Evil game series. And, that would have been thematically appropriate. Instead, Hauser chose to shed a light on a very serious subject during his stroll down the red carpet.

A Nod No Resident Evil Fan Could Have Guessed
Fans watching at home noticed a curious pin on Paul Walter Hauser’s lapel when he walked down the Resident Evil red carpet. Variety learned that the pin actually had the coordinates to the Zorro Ranch in New Mexico. Hauser wanted to make a statement about the Epstein files. The neutral pin stood out against his black t-shirt on the carpet.
Hauser explained, “It was at one point owned by Jeffrey Epstein. It’s shrouded in mystery, and then a church supposedly bought it, which is even more disconcerting, I think.”
When asked for more of a comment, the actor offered that he is trying “to bring awareness to evil people who are surreptitious and need to have a little Google search done on them.”
A Big Opening Weekend Is On The Way
Resident Evil is poised for a series-best opening weekend at the box office. A lot of people are stoked to see what Cregger’s bringing to the table. Right now, Resident Evil sits at 80% on Metacritic and favorable on Rotten Tomatoes. So, things are looking up. Our Hunter Bolding reviewed the title for the site. And, he argues that this unique approach should be lauded. But, game fans expecting a 1-to-1 recreation of Resident Evil 2 should know they’re in for a ride.
Follows a hapless courier tasked with delivering a package to a remote hospital. He soon finds himself caught in the middle of an outbreak and must fight through hordes of mutated creatures to survive.
Bolding argues, “Zach Cregger can seemingly do no wrong after the release of Barbarian and Weapons. The director brought his style and substance to the Resident Evil franchise. One that he’s a huge fan of, but with a movie that doesn’t exactly 1 to 1 adapt those games. And that’s really for the best.”
“I know, I know, there are going to be fans that will whine and complain about the plot of this movie and the actual substance of this movie. For the whiny internet baby, this movie is going to be a nightmare,” he continued. “It’s hilarious at points, it’s touching at others, and it is not strictly following the rules of the survival horror genre. Which is precisely why the film works so well.”
