Horror movies and box sets go hand in hand. The idea of a collector’s edition box set showing off the best of what a series has to offer is incredible. We get great box sets every year from companies like Arrow Video, Scream Factory, Vinegar Syndrome, and others including studio releases from places like Paramount Home Entertainment and Warner Bros.. But what are the 10 best box sets for the money? Some of these are brand new, and others are older, and more in-demand. These are the 10 best Horror Blu-ray Box Sets that money can buy.

10. Universal Classic Monsters: Complete 30-Film Collection – Universal Home Entertainment

While the Amityville Horror story might be public domain, go check out the endless sequels and other movies that come out bearing the name, the actual horror series has some pretty solid entries after the first film. This box set from Vinegar Syndrome contains Amityville: The Evil Escapes, It’s About Time, A New Generation, and Dollhouse. This takes the series from Long Island to California, instead focusing on evil objects that came from the original house and brought their evil elsewhere. This collection is somewhat harder to find and out of print now, but if you do some looking, you can find it for a decent price.

The films here might not be the best horror movies you’ve ever seen, but the work that Vinegar Syndrome put into them is worth the price of admission. You get beautiful 4K scans of the original camera negative in addition to the package of special features that you’d expect out of VS.

6. The Toxic Avenger Collection Tox Set 4K Ultra HD – Troma

Leave it to Arrow Video to celebrate the legacy and beginnings of Empire Pictures. This box set brings us The Dungeonmaster, Dolls, Cellar Dweller, Arena, and Robot Jox. It might not house all horror movies, but you can’t talk about horror in the ’80s without talking about Empire Pictures. The Charlie Band-founded company gave us plenty of classics in such a small period of time from 1983-1989. The packaging here is top notch with a full color booklet of essays, wraparound art, and tons of lobby cards. That’s not even counting the special features on the disc. If you can track down a copy, you need this for your collection.

4. Trick Or Treat (1986) Collector’s Edition – Synapse Films

This was a miracle when it was announced and it was a miracle when it came out. Finally getting Trick or Treat on Blu-ray was one thing, getting it in the best possible picture quality on 4K UHD with physical extras is a whole different thing. This one featured three different covers (I went with the red box) and each of them had beautiful new art commissioned for this release. It’s not just about the physical extras here, the on-disc content is great with hours of bonus content like commentaries, making of retrospectives, tributes, and plenty more. If you snagged one when it came out, you’re surely happy with your purchase.

3. Hellraiser: Quartet Of Torment 4K UHD – Arrow Video

The Hellraiser Scarlet Box used to be the gold standard for this series, but it got one-upped by the recent Quartet of Torment from Arrow Video. This new release gave us the first four films on 4K UHD and also the once-thought-lost workprint of Hellraiser: Bloodlines. That alone is worth the price of admission, but the packaging, the book, and the other on-disc content makes this one of the best box sets you can buy. The best part is that it is still readily available for people to buy, unlike the Scarlet Box, which is long out of print.

2. Halloween: The Complete Collection Limited Deluxe Edition – Scream Factory

Halloween has plenty of movies, and this one contains all of them. You get the elusive Producer’s Cut of Halloween 6. It has hours of special features and besides the new 4K versions of Halloween 1-5 from Scream Factory. No matter what you think of some of the films, this one has the best packaging, best extras, and most content for any box-set.

This does get dwarfed a bit by the 4Ks that Scream Factory put out, but those have only made this set cheaper than it once was on the secondary market. If you don’t want this set, the 4K Collection (1995-2002) that Scream Factory put out combined with the standalone 4K releases make for a great instant collection.

1. Friday The 13th Collection Deluxe Edition – Scream Factory

Yes, this is the best box set ever created AND you can still buy it for around $100. That is a steal, and even with new 4K releases of several of these movies from Arrow Video, this is still the best and most impressive box set ever assembled. This one has every film in the series, regardless of who owns the rights. You get hours of bonus features, and the uncut versions of the films in the set. It isn’t without issues. There are replacement discs, so make sure if you’re buying this one, that you get the fixed version.
