The View Askewniverse grows a little bigger and cozier.
Revelling in the Creativity of Pot Farming
At New York Comic Con 2026, we sat down with the Nitrate Games team behind the upcoming “Jay and Silent Bob” cozy weed-farming simulation game set in Kevin Smith’s iconic View Askewniverse. Nitrate Games co-founders Daniel Kendrick (IDW Entertainment, “Batman Azteca”), Montana Sommese (Cartoon Network, Warner Bros.), Nick Madonna (Blue Tag, PHL Collective), Creative Director Chase Marotz, and game designer Idan Saban were all on hand to field questions on the incoming game’s release in 2027.
“We want to make games that we might have gotten in trouble for playing as kids and we wished had existed at the time,” Kendrick said.
The newest game, “Jay and Silent Bob’s Joint Venture,” in the Nitrate line-up us most certainly not for kids. It’s a foul-mouthed gaming experience that is a low-pressure, comedy-rich sim with no traditional fail states. Players start with a rundown backyard operational setup and turn it into a thriving cannabis farm.
Sommese said that the team has a thriving Discord community, where long-time fans of Jay and Silent Bob give their feedback on ideas and are generally just excited about the game in general. There doesn’t seem to be any fans that are wrinkling their noses at the concept of the game being so warm and cozy.
How the Game Will Work
In a similar vein as games like “Animal Crossing” or “Stardew Valley,” “Joint Venture” is about users casually growing and building something that doesn’t overly stress them out. With this pot farming game specifically, players can plant, harvest, and crossbreed new strains to discover unique genetics, effects, and customer-requested crops for local neighbors. Creating brand new, whacky strains of marijuana sounds like a very relaxing way to pass the time. According to the creative team, different strains give different effects, boosts, rewards, and issues for the user that consumes it.
Along with growing weed, the game has upgrades that include new grow buildings, tools, machinery, and aesthetic decorations to expand operations. Players can explore the fictional town of Leonardo, New Jersey, visiting key franchise landmarks like the Quick Stop, RST Video, Mooby’s, and the local Mall.
Aside from mainstays Jay and Silent Bob, the game features characters spanning Kevin Smith’s entire filmography, including figures from “Clerks,” “Mallrats,” “Chasing Amy,” and “Dogma.”
“Any character that we introduced or sent to Kevin [Smith], he was like, ‘yes,'” Madonna said.
Turn a rundown backyard into your own cozy cannabis farm. Crossbreed plants to discover unusual effects and grow the strains your neighbors need. Build friendships as you explore the town with Jay and Silent Bob, surrounded by the spirit of ’90s comedy.
