Apple TV’s First Hall H Panel Reveals Full Slate of TV Shows & Original Films [SDCC 2026]

Apple TV delivers new information, trailers, and previews of some of its most anticipated TV shows and films for the rest of the year and leading into 2027.

Kicking Into Gear

Looking back at Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con, while the Marvel Studios presentation in Hall H was the most anticipated event taking place that day, the largest block of time was actually devoted to Apple TV. Being their first Hall H panel, Apple came prepared with big stars, first looks, and surprises to deliver a very entertaining time inside the convention center’s largest presentation area. Even with a few notable absences (I guess Ted Lasso had a practice to get to); there was more than enough to fill the two hours given to Apple TV.

Matchbox: The Movie

Looking to kick up the excitement, this was the sort of Hall H panel where the side wall curtains pulled back to extend the screens for that 270-degree Comic-Con experience, which was plenty fitting for their first presentation – Matchbox: The Movie. Honestly, even at a time when we’ve seen huge success with Barbie and Lego, I can understand continued skepticism over what to possible do with this toy brand. And yet, it may have been one of the highlights of the day.

Following some animated intros set to Ludacris’ “Roll Out” (making it clear that this film isn’t going to hide its Fast & Furious influences), the main cast arrived on stage, including John Cena, Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris, and Arturo Castro. This was a fun and lively panel, featuring Cena’s typical infectious sense of humor as a big guy who knows how to work a crowd. At the same time, comedic actors Richardson and Castro easily kept the laughs coming as well. Even a small slip by Parris when describing her character led to full-on running jokes for the rest of the panel to play with.

Soon into things, audiences were treated to the debut of the trailer for Matchbox: The Movie, and it went over very well. While the action-comedy featured plenty of jokes to show off the tone, it’s clear that director Sam Hargrave (the Extraction series) has loaded this film with plenty of real automobile-based stunt work as well. Even the cast were happy to point out how wild it was to be involved with a film that featured so many insane action sequences.

As far as the actual plot goes, Cena stars as Sean, a former soldier who reunites with childhood friends after a successful mission, only to be kidnapped and framed. Now, the group must clear their names and rediscover their friendship by using a wide variety of vehicles in a high-stakes cross-continental adventure.

Matchbox: The Movie is set to be released on Apple TV on October 9, 2026.

Dark Matter

Next up was Dark Matter, which is finally ready to launch its second season, after initially debuting back in 2024. On-hand were stars Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Connelly, Alice Braga, and Dayo Okeniyi, along with showrunner Blake Crouch. It’s always a bit tough when describing these upcoming TV seasons, as everyone is going to be a bit more tight-lipped about what to expect and where these characters are going to be ending up.

That said, the cast felt quite excited to be on stage and sharing their enthusiasm for being a part of a trippy show involving alternate realities. Edgerton even joked about how his life is nothing like this, unless he were to take LSD. Following about as much discussion as seen fit, the trailer for season two did play for an excited crowd, before making way for what was next.

Dark Matter – Season 2 is set to premiere on August 28, 2026.

Neuromancer

Dropping in briefly next was Neuromancer, the TV adaptation of the highly acclaimed cyberpunk novel by William Gibson, who serves as one of the show’s producers. While not arriving until early next year, one of the showrunners, Graham Roland, was on-hand to answer a few questions and present the very first trailer for the series. 

While far more involved, the basic premise finds Case (Callum Turner), a damaged, top-rung super-hacker, being thrust into a world of digital espionage and high-stakes crime with his partner Molly (Briana Middleton), a razor-girl assassin, so they can pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets. 

The series also features Mark Strong, Clemence Poesy, Peter Sarsgaard, and Emma Laird among others. Additionally, co-showrunner and filmmaker J.D. Dillard (Sleight, Devotion) will be directing at least the first three episodes.

Neuromancer is set to premiere on January 22, 2027.

Mayday

Next up was time for the action-comedy film Mayday, which already had a trailer debut recently to give audiences a chance to see what this was all about. It’s a simple enough premise – set in 1987, a US Air Force Pilot (Ryan Reynolds) is forced to eject over Soviet Russian territory. Lost in the wilderness, the pilot meets and befriends a Russian ex-KGB carpenter (Kenneth Branagh), who agrees to help him escape enemy territory. 

It all serves as an excuse to lean on comedic banter while watching crazy action sequences. Still, we do get to see if it’s time for audiences to embrace Branagh as another “older-thespian-turned action star.”

Given that Ryan Reynolds was actually in disguise at Comic-Con, wearing a grey Deadpool costume. At the same time, it would have been nice to see him pop up during this panel; I can see why holding off until Marvel kicked into gear later on the day made more sense. Why Branagh wasn’t present either, well I can only guess. 

That said, writers and directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Dungeons & Dragons: Amongst Thieves, Game Night) were on hand to discuss their inspirations for the film (both Midnight Run and Misery came up), and show off an exclusive clip from the film. 

These days, this kind of film tends to only go so far for me. However, Goldstein and Daley have proven to have some solid talent when it comes to both visual control over their comedic features and effective ways to subvert expectations when considering major set pieces. We’ll find out just how effective soon enough.

Mayday is set to be released on Apple TV on September 4, 2026.

Widow’s Bay

Pulling up to shore next was Widow’s Bay, which really got the crowd excited, and for good reason. The breakout comedy/horror series from creator/showrunner Katie Dippold has turned into a major hit for the network, scoring 19 Primetime Emmy nominations for its first season alone. The series had only just recently wrapped up its first season, with an official second season announcement being made in June. 

Along with Dippold, joining her on stage were stars Kevin Carroll, Dale Dickey, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Jeff Hiller, and K Callan, along with director Hiro Murai. Plus, later in the panel, Matthew Rhys was able to join via live-stream. 

This was a fun cast to hear from, as they expressed their joy at being so welcomed by this quirky series that provides just as many laughs as it does scares. This was emphasized greatly by the presentation of a clip from the series focused on one of the most terrifying moments of the show, despite the presence of a very good Rhys.

While only in pre-production on the second season, we can expect the second season to arrive sometime in 2027.

Silo

The last portion of time for this Apple TV panel was spent focusing on the hit dystopian sci-fi series Silo, which has just entered its third season. Sadly, I still haven’t caught up with the acclaimed series, though I’m really excited to. 

That said, it seems as though there are plenty of fans out there who are about to get what they want. As showrunner Graham Yost explained, after a couple of seasons featuring a lot of ambiguity, season three is apparently going to deliver a lot of answers to the big questions set up by this series. 

Along with Yost, many of the stars were present as well, including Rebecca Ferguson, Common, Ashley Zuckerman, and Jessica Henwick. Plus, the major surprise was a returning Tim Robbins, who joined everyone on stage later in the panel as well. 

Again, with the season currently airing, there’s only so much the cast and Yost were really able to get into, though Yost did essentially state that Season 4 is going to happen for sure. Still, that shouldn’t outweigh the current excitement that is learning a lot of answers to major questions in the coming weeks. 

Silo – Season 3 is currently in its third season on Apple TV.
