Banana Split has been around since 2018 making the independent rounds and was supposed to have a big theatrical debut in March until our global pandemic shut down movie theaters. Cue the Netflix signal! Like most other online streaming services, Netflix has been picking up tons of content and Banana Split is absolutely a winner!
Unlike The Kissing Booth 2, I really loved this movie. Banana Split is a fun, hilarious, raw, and witty good time. The movie hits the group running and never slows down. I laughed the entire time. The story was entertaining, the writing is quick and smart, the pacing was on point, and the actors are incredibly charming and relatable. One of my favorite things about the film is that the story doesn’t necessarily follow in the footsteps of your typical teen-angst love story. There wasn’t a classic “happy ending”; It’s not about chasing the boy and winning him back. In the end, it’s about building real friendships and how friendship can conquer all! #SistersBeforeMisters
