I suspect most of our readers here will have never heard of Hope until now. Not unless you’re already a fan of acclaimed South Korean director Na Hong-jin. This guy has become known for his incredibly violent movies that feature elements of both thriller and horror genres. Needless to say, this means that you all will be in for a bloody good time when Hope finally makes its debut. In fact, quite a few people think a lot of viewers are going to have a bloody good time when that happens, especially over at American independent film film production and distribution company Neon. They’re the ones responsible for bringing this movie to NA shores, and what better way to spread the word about this movie than at San Diego Comic-Con? It’s why we’re getting this story for today, after all.
Neon is proud to promote Hope with a special panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 (SDCC 2026), featuring a pair of special guests at the panel. The first guest will be South Korean breakout star Jung Ho-yeon (Squid Game), who will give an exclusive introduction to that panel. The second guest will be director Na Hong-jin himself, who will give an “in-depth conversation” at that panel. On top of all of that, attendees will also be able to get an exclusive look at “never before seen footage” directly from the movie itself.

Hope All Set to Make a Splash at SDCC 2026
Honestly, I may have been wrong in my initial assessment of people’s general knowledge about Hope. If Neon are going to these lengths to promote the movie at SDCC 2026, then there may have already been significant interest in this movie even before this SDCC 2026 panel. You don’t have a panel featuring one of the lead actresses and the director himself for a movie that no one has ever heard about, after all.
On the other hand though, Neon doing this SDCC 2026 panel may also be as a response to the general lack of knowledge about Hope too. It’s possible both theories are true. There could’ve been significant interest among fans of South Korean movies about Hope that led Neon to deciding that it’s worth it to host that panel at SDCC 2026. At the same time, they may be hoping (pun intended) that this panel might attract a broader audience amongst the general public, even among people who have never watched a South Korean movie in their entire lives. It’s certainly quite the hopeful (pun also intended) stance for Neon. We’ll just have to see if that hope (okay, I’ll stop now) bears any fruit.
