Peter Cullen, the iconic Canadian voice actor has passed away at the age of 85. The actor is best known for his voice as the heroic Autobot, Optimus Prime in the “Transformers” franchise, which included movies, TV shows, and video games. Also is a very different role, he was the voice of the lovable and gloomy Eeyore in many Winne the Pooh projects.
According to TMZ, Cullen died Wednesday at his home is Los Angeles. The cause of death has not been revealed. The family released this statement:
“Peter Cullen passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family – and held in the hearts of his many friends and countless fans worldwide. His family asks that you honor his remarkable legacy by serving your communities and leading others with compassion, integrity, and loyalty and always remember ‘be strong enough to be gentle.'”
Cullen had many other roles familiar to many. These include the voice of King Kong for the 1976 remake, and the evil K.A.R.R. in the 1983 Knight Rider series. He was also the one who came up with the unique sound that the Predators make starting with the 1987 film.
He is survived by his children Angus, Claire, Pilar, and Clay.
