Disney also shared brief footage, which revealed Rapunzel’s flowing blonde hair strung across the ground, before the camera panned up to show Croft in full costume as Rapunzel. The next shot revealed a long-nailed hand reaching out from behind a dark door, with the figure stepping out to reveal herself as Hahn as Mother Gothel. The crowd in the arena went wild.

“Thank you! You were right! I am Mother Gothel: Stunning, hilarious, fab, kind, generous — to a fault. Might be a little overprotective, but that’s because she cares so much,” Hahn said on stage when the clip ended “I love Mother Gothel, I love playing her, she’s the best kind of villain. She’s the kind who thinks they’re actually the hero!”

The Greatest Showman and Better Man director Michael Gracey is directing this adaptation along with a script written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Michael Montemayor. Diego Luna is also set to star in an unknown role with twin comedians Patrick and Hugo McPherson as the Stabbington Brothers.

The 2010 animated classic starred Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, and Donna Murphy. The film tells the story of Rapunzel (Moore), a young princess with magical long blonde hair who tries to leave her secret tower. She accepts the aid of an intruder, the outlaw Flynn Rider (Levi), to take her out into the world which she has never seen.

The film earned $592 million and became the eighth-highest-grossing film of 2010. Tangled spawned a franchise, including a short film, Tangled Ever After (2012), a video game, a stage musical, and a television series which premiered in 2017.
