Hulu Gives Us A First Look At The Dawg Pound
The Land is coming up early next year. And, we just got our first look at Dan Fogelman’s newest show. Hulu and Disney+ hope you’re ready for some football. The Land premieres on the streaming platform on February 15. Check out some images of the new series right here.
A lot of familiar faces are reporting eligble for The Land. TV favorites like Christopher Meloni, Chloe Bennet, Bridget Moynahan and Mandy Moore are here. When it comes to NFL action, it doesn’t get more dramatic than the roller coaster ride that is the Cleveland Browns.
Despite being one of the longest tenured clubs in the entire National Football League, there’s always some drama up there in The Land. That’s where Meloni’s Danny Roarke comes in. He’s on his last chance, and maybe there’s some magic for him on the shores of Lake Erie.
Who’s Producing The Land?
Fogelman’s got some serious TV bonafides. He’s been a part of This Is Us. And, TV fans have loved the ride that Paradise has been on Hulu for a while now. But, this sports drama could be absolutely massive for people looking for a great story.
Joining the showrunner are Jess Rosenthal, Kevin Falls, and Austin Adler as executive producers. David Ellison, Jason T. Reed, Jesse Sisgold on for Skydance Sports’ production. The Land is a 20th Television and Skydance Sports collaboration.
What Is The Show About?
After several disappointing seasons, Cleveland Browns’ head coach Danny Roarke has one last chance to turn around his football team. His fate rests on a newly drafted Ohio State quarterback — who just happens to be his son.
Meanwhile, the owner, Hal Durkin, must decide which of his two daughters is best equipped to take over the team. “The Land” is the story of two families, in which the high-stakes drama plays out not only on the field but also in the front offices of this NFL franchise, as a loyal fanbase wants a winning season now … or face big changes if they don’t.
THS’s Take on The Land
Fogelman usually puts a winning product out on the field. And, there’s no reason to believe that’s not going to happen today. The Land follows an NFL franchise that’s not light on drama and casts a bunch of talented actors to play down to earth roles. Football is still massive business and Hulu/Disney+ know that the sports drama can still appeal. (Hi Chad Powers!) Excited to kick this one off.
