Universal Kids Resort In Texas Officially Opens This July

Universal Kids Resort Map.

Universal has huge news for fans of their kids content and theme parks. They’re officially opening their first-ever regional theme park designed specifically for kids. The new park opens on July 1st in Frisco, Texas. Coming in at 20 acres, the park brings fun for kids and grown-ups at every turn through seven amazing lands with some of Universal’s best kids properties.

The seven lands include: DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp, Jurassic World Adventure Camp, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom, Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club, DreamWorks’ TrollsFest, DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar and the Isle of Curiosity featuring DreamWorks’ Gabby’s Dollhouse.

Also on the property is the Universal Kids Resort Hotel. The hotel is right at the entrance of the park with 300 rooms and family suites, dining, an outdoor pool, and other family-friendly amenities. Tickets, packages, and the first annual pass are all on sale right now:

  • 1-Day and 2-Day General Admission tickets
  • The Universal Kids Resort Silver Annual Pass, which provides 12 months of access to the park (blockout dates apply). Pass options inclusive of parking are also available.
  • “Create Your Own” Package that allows guests to customize their experience and includes multiple ticket options – including a specialty “1.5-Day” admission ticket – hotel accommodations, flights and access to exclusive benefits such as Early Park Admission, resort-wide charging privileges, free delivery of purchased merchandise, and more.
  • All room types at the Universal Kids Resort Hotel for stays beginning June 30, including the Standard Queen, Deluxe Queen and Signature Queen rooms, which can sleep up to five guests, and the Family Suites, which can sleep up to six guests.

The THS Take – Something For Everyone In The Family From Universal

As a huge fan of Universal and their parks, I’m not the target for this park, but for families looking for a new place to vacation, this looks like a great time. The video above shows off some of the fun through renders of the seven different areas. The Illumination area of Universal Studios Hollywood is always packed with kids and families, so this being an expansion of that with more lands is awesome. This is also the first Universal Park outside of California and Texas in the US. They’ve done great work with Universal Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas as an exhibition.

The one thing that could make me a bit apprehensive about the park is just that a lot of openings for Universal Parks and experiences have had some issues at their launch. Universal Epic Universe had some problems at launch that they’ve since ironed out, but that’s something to keep in mind. Any park this size opening is going to have growing pains from a launch. So if you’re planning on going to Texas for this on opening day, you might want to be wary.

Outside of that though, it’s always exciting to see a new park opening up from Universal and this is no different. It could lead to a renaissance in theme park operations in Texas. We’ll have to see when Universal Kids Resort officially opens on July 1st, 2026.
