Post Summary
Disney has a massive panel planned to open their D23 event. At the panel, they’ll announce major movies, shows, and other experiences and you can follow along with us live as they do it. We’ll get announcements from Marvel, Lucasfilm, Disney Animation, Pixar, and much more. Follow along with us as we give you the play-by-play as it happens!
The panel starts at 7:00PM PT and runs until 9:00PM PT.
D23 is held in Anaheim, CA and the panel is at the Honda Center.
The Panel Kicks Off
As with all of these types of panels at gigantic conventions… it started late. We’re still currently waiting for the thing to kick off.
UPDATE: 7:20 PM PT: The lights have gone down, the panel should be starting shortly…
I’m sure we were all super excited to hear that the panel started and what did it start off with?!
A Dancing With The Stars dance showcase.
Ke Huy Quan and Ginnifer Goodwin opened up the showcase on stage. They were followed up by Walt Disney Company CEO Josh D’Amaro.
Josh went through his history at the Walt Disney Company to the crowd. He made sure to push to the crowd that to run Disney well, you need to be a fan. He also talked about the company’s work with Make-A-Wish. They grant a wish every hour of every day at least.
After Josh finished, he brought out Anne Hathaway to the stage.
Anne shared some love for both The Devil Wears Prada and The Princess Diaries. She announced that they were hard at work on The Princess Diaries 3.
Dana Walden was next out for the showcase.
Not a lot of action so far…
Dana brought out Bart Simpson of all people!
The Simpsons Movie Is The First Salvo With A Sneak Peak Of The New Movie
Here’s what friend of THS, Brandon Davis, said about the footage.
The new footage came with a bit of a disappointing development though, the film has been delayed to September 2027.
Pixar Takes The Stage At D23 2026
Their first huge announcement was that The Incredibles 3 was coming in Summer 2028. The kids are headlining the film and they’ll be sneaking out to protect the city. They’ve been struggling to keep Jack Jack under control though. The villain of the film will focus on the idea of not all superheroes being good.
The next announcement was for Coco 2. Benjamin Bratt was out and he’s reprising his role as Ernesto Delacruz from the first film. It takes place a few years after the first film with Ernesto coming back for revenge. Coco 2 arrives in theaters in November 2029.
Kingdom Hearts IV was surprisingly up next. Coco is heading to the video game from Square Enix. That wasn’t the only announcement though. Kingdom Hearts – The Series is coming to Disney+.
A new film titled Ghost Market is coming from Pixar and Disney in Spring 2028. Gatto is next up for the animation company. The crowd is being treated to an extended clip from the new film.
The next announcement was for Lilo & Stitch 2. The new film arrives in Summer 2028. Angel is making her live-action debut in the film.
Romy And Michelle, Percy Jackson, And More
Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion 2 was showcased. Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino came out in costume to talk about the film. They did not show any footage from the film.
Percy Jackson season 3 followed up on the High School Reunion. They showed the trailer for the third season of the show coming to Disney+.
Camp Rock 3 was up next. And that is incredibly thrilling for some members of the crowd. We’ve now reached the part of the showcase about some of the more small child programs like Bluey The Movie. They’re showing off the teaser for the film. The film releases in theaters in August 2027.
Ice Age: Boiling Point was up next with Queen Latifah and Denis Leary coming out to talk about the film. The footage shown during this showcase was the same footage that was shown at CinemaCon 2026.
The Greatest Showman – The Musical was up next with a performance from the show going on. Samantha Barks was on stage to perform ‘A Million Dreams’. The show opens in London in Spring 2027 at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
Tangled With Plenty More To Go
Kathryn Hahn took the stage to talk about Tangled. She’s playing Mother Gothel in the film that releases in theaters on March 31, 2028.
Jon Favreau came out to showcase his new Disney+ series Oswald.
The series is coming to Disney+ as a three-part mini-series with hand-drawn 2D animation that takes place in Walt Disney’s office. They showed off a glimpse of the series to the crowd.
Kevin Feige And The Marvel Portion Of The Night
And finally, the long wait was over, here’s what we all came for. Marvel.
Kevin Feige took the stage with everyone waiting on possible news about X-Men and other properties. The first up was Vision Quest with James Spader and Paul Bettany joining Kevin Feige on stage. They showed off the trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series.
The series releases on Disney+ on October 14th, 2026.
Then they went to Marvel Games and talked about Insomniac’s Wolverine.
Hugh Jackman was shown on the screen with the entire room erupting. Deadpool made an appearance, they both were asking to be in Avengers: Doomsday. And it was Avengers: Doomsday time. They gave the crowd a special look at the film.
X-Men is coming to theaters on May 5th, 2028. Kit Connor was confirmed as Cyclops, Inde Navarrette was announced as Rogue, Christopher Abbott was cast as Professor Charles Xavier, Adam Driver as Mister Sinister.
Star Wars Takes Over D23
The 1977 version of the film is coming out next year.
Next up was Ahsoka season two with Ezra rejoining his Star Wars: Rebels family. They showed off a teaser trailer.
Star Wars: Starfighter was up next.
Disney Animation took up the home stretch for the showcase.
Zootopia 3 was officially announced.
They also announced a new animated film coming in 2028 called Clay. It stars Kieran Culkin as the worst mentor ever.
Frozen 3 is closing out the showcase. Ana is finally getting married in the film. Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel took the stage to talk about the new film. It releases in theaters in Fall 2027.
