Destin Daniel Cretton Swings Back For Spider-Man 5

Spider-Man 5 we’ll see the Marvel director return to the franchise. After a whirlwind turn with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Destin Daniel Crepton has been confirmed as the man behind the camera for the next Sony live-action Spidey movie. The most recent entry with Tom Holland as the Wall-Crawler has lit up theaters across the world. Now, fans can rest assured that Marvel Studios and Sony aren’t breaking up a winning team. Here’s what we know now.

Spider-Man 5 Keeps Fan-Favorite Director

Destin Daniel Cretton is coming back for Spider-Man 5. The news comes courtesy of Deadline. Fans had begun to worry that Cretton’s dance card had become too full. Earlier today, Deadline reported that the Spider-Man director was signed on to do Hawaii Five-0 with Paramount. There’s only so many hours in the day, after all. He’s not Superman!

Between that project, the live-action Naruto adaptation, and the lingering Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings sequel over at Marvel Studios, folks pondered where Spider-Man would fit in. But, never fear, the dream team of Holland and Cretton will ride again. It’s another bit of good news for Marvel as they look toward a big holiday season with Avengers: Doomsday looming in Decemeber.

Cretton’s Got Naruto Up Next

A whole bunch of Anime fans out there got excited to have this specific director behind the lens for Naruto. It’s been decades now since the world met the prospective Hokage. Now, he’s making a leap to live-action. Here’s how excited the series creator is for Cretton entering the fold.

“When I heard of Destin’s attachment, it happened to be right after watching a blockbuster action film of his, and I thought he would be the perfect director for Naruto,” Kishimoto previouskly said in a statement. “After enjoying his other films and understanding that his forte is in creating solid dramas about people, I became convinced that there is no other director for Naturo. In actually meeting Destin, I also found him to be an open-minded director who was willing to embrace my input, and felt strongly that we would be able to cooperate together in the production process.”

What’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day About?

It’s a Brand New Day for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full time as Spider-man in a world that doesn’t remember him – and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him – sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves: a powerful villain no one can see.

The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still in theaters. The movie is produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, Rachel O’Connor, Louis D’Esposito and David Cain.
