Long-time Crunchyroll users will be well-aware by now that the streaming service has been requiring users to subscribe to their premium subscriptions for years now. It’s not technically necessary to watch anime on Crunchyroll, but practically speaking, the vast majority of Crunchyroll’s anime are locked behind the premium paywall. Despite this, Crunchyroll seems to not offer any discount or sale period at all for those subscription services, which effectively means most people are locked out of watching Crunchyroll’s anime library. This is one of the rare instances in which that might not be the case.
Crunchyroll is proud to announce that they will be offering discounts of their premium subscriptions for Ani-May 2026. From Thursday, May 7, 2026 until Thursday, May 21, 2026; both the Fan and the Mega Fan subscription levels will see discounts for all users. The first three months of Fan will be $1.99 per month, while the first three months of Mega Fan will be $2.99 per month. This offer will be available in over 35 countries, including the United States, Canada, Peru, Colombia, Chile, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Spain, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Mexico, and India. Pricing and content availability will vary across countries, of course.

Crunchyroll Offering Rare Discounts for Premium Subscription from May 7-21
On one hand, it is a bit scummy for Crunchyroll to lock their anime behind that premium subscription paywall. On the other hand, this is still the rare discount that they offer to get past that paywall. Normally, they almost never offer any discounts at all. Be aware though that this discount will be for the first three months of your subscription. After that, they will likely bill you the normal subscription price. So if you do want to take advantage of this offer, be ready to cancel three months in to avoid paying the normal rate.
