New ‘Ghostbusters’ Animated Series Launches On Netflix In 2027

Ghostbusters is making a cultural renaissance lately. There’s been two new movies and interest in the property is at an all-time high. Today, we’ve learned that a new animated show from Netflix is coming in 2027. The streamer announced today that the show was coming next year but it still doesn’t have a title. Here’s what they had to say.

“Hailing from Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation, the high end animated series based on the beloved Ghostbusters IP will debut exclusively on Netflix in 2027.”

They also showed off that Dan Aykroyd was on board for the project as an Executive Producer. He’s joined by Jason Reitman as an EP on the project as well.

The full list of EPs includes Ben Hibon, Elliott Kalan, Jason Reitman, Gil Kenan, Amie Karp, and Dan Aykroyd.

The latest movie, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire did well enough at the box office but there aren’t currently any plans for a new live-action Ghostbusters film.

This wouldn’t be the first time that the Ghostbusters made their way to animation. They had two animated series with The Real Ghostbusters in the 1980s and Extreme Ghostbusters in the 90s.
