Stranger Things Winter Special- Plot Summary

The story of Stranger Things Winter Special begins with Mike, Lucas, and Dustin getting a ride from Steve to the Byers’ house to celebrate Christmas. On the way Dustin believes he sees something in the woods. The boys get there at the same time as Hopper and Eleven do.

The boys have a surprise present for Eleven to celebrate her first ever Christmas. They got her her very own walkie talkie! They then have her pick out a Christmas special from the large collection Will and Jonathan recorded for her on the VCR. Ah who remembers doing that? No? Just me?

Anyways, each character starts to tell the plot of their favorite Christmas classic trying to help her decide. There ae some good choices that I wont mention, cause come on I’ll leave some mystery to this review. The problem is, Dustin keeps insisting that he saw something in the woods. This being the Stranger Things gang they go investigate.

The gang bundles up and heads out in the cold to investigate. Personally, after all they have been through, I would have just stayed inside with a nice hot chocolate but teens am I right? So, they go out and find the creature Dustin thought he saw. Turns out to be a rabbit. They take it in to be tended to by Joyce and to finally pick a movie. Eleven realizes that being with the ones you love is the true meaning of the holidays’ and they all enjoy a nice Christmas movie.

Stranger Things Winter Special- The Good

The whole story line is what drew me in. Personally I’m a sap so Stranger Things Winter Special is right up my alley. I love seeing the gang enjoy a nice Christmas together. It warmed my heart to have Eleven realize she was loved and that the meaning of Christmas is to be with those loved ones.

Another great aspect of this comic is the illustration. They were spot on and the characters looked amazing. The colors were vivid and stood out beautifully.

Stranger Things Winter Special- the Bad

Alright, I know Stranger Things Winter Special is just that, a winter special, but I wanted more action. I love a feel good story but if you are going to hint at a monster, give me a monster! I was expecting a Demogorgon or at least a baby one like Dart. Yeah, it wouldn’t make sense but a rabbit? This being Stranger Things I honestly expected another Eleven to pop up. Alas it does not take away from the story it’s just me wanting more than a feel good story.

Besides that knit picking I do think some parts dragged just a tiny bit. Some of the parts seemed a little longer than necessary, and I get it the comic should be a little long, but there were those small parts that couldn’t keep me attention completely.

In Conclusion

Stranger Things Winter Special is a nice one-shot feel good comic. The storyline is a typical Holiday special and that’s nice. The added mystery adventure was fun too, even if it did end up just being a rabbit. It’s a story that warms you up inside, makes you laugh, and reminds you what the holiday’s are about and that to me makes it a wonderful read for this holiday season.
