Zach Cregger, the mind behind films like Weapons and Barbarian is taking on Resident Evil now. Check out the trailer for his new vision of the series below!
Austin Abrams stars as Bryan, a medical courier who finds himself racing for survival as the town of Raccoon City goes to hell around him. This is based on the iconic video game franchise and opens in theaters on September 18th, 2026. It also stars Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, Paul Walter Hauser, and Johno Wilson. Zach Cregger directs the film from a script that he co-wrote with Shay Hatten.
Cregger produces alongside Constantin Film’s Robert Kulzer, Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee & Miri Yoon, and PlayStation Productions’ Carter Swan & Asad Qizilbash. Executive producers include Oliver Berben, Victor Hadida, Richard Wright, and Robert Bernacci.
As for if we’ll see any other iconic Resident Evil characters in the film, we’ll have to see as we get closer to release. As of right now, it looks like this is an original story with original characters set in the Resident Evil universe.
