Season 2 Is A Literal Adventure

Diarra From Detroit Season 2 is streaming on Paramount+. The network decided to re-up on one of the most unique, funny shows on TV. Diarra From Detroit follows the mysteries and messiness of Diarra Brickland. She’s a former teacher who becomes a private investigator after being ghosted on Tinder. The new season has her in the middle of a massive mystery with the Detroit underworld at the heart of things. It’s never dull in the Motor City and this Private Eye makes sure of it.

You can catch new episodes of “Diarra From Detroit” Wednesdays on Paramount+.

Diarra From Detroit Is Back w/ More Mysteries

With season two underway, I talked to Diarra Kilpatrick about what she’s up against this time during San Diego Comic-Con. There’s always some mystery at the heart of Diarra From Detroit. And, things are even wilder the second time around. Over the course of our conversation we talked about Detroit as a main character, the absurdity of life in the Midwest, and how to raise the stakes in a second season of a critically acclaimed show. Diara also mentioned how her creative processes evolved. Come check out the amazing conversation right here down below!

About Diarra From Detroit

Created by and starring Kilpatrick, season two finds Diarra Brickland trying — unsuccessfully — to have a hot girl summer without getting wrapped up in yet another deeply unserious and extremely dangerous Detroit mystery. This time around, what starts as a seemingly harmless furniture recovery mission quickly spirals into a triple homicide investigation, a citywide treasure hunt and another trip deep into Detroit’s criminal underbelly.

As Diarra attempts to sort out her messy relationship status, she instead finds herself going undercover with a secret society, starring in a Tubi movie, chasing urban legends, dodging gang warfare, and uncovering secrets buried beneath the city itself. Because of course she does.

Words From The Star Herself

One of the most unique facets of Diarra from Detroit is how heightened the reality of Detroit can be in the show. One moment she’s sitting around her kitchen table with her friends discussing a case. And, the next they can be running from literal explosions. Then, in the next scene they could be at a family barbecue. There really are no rules to how life unfolds in The D.

The series star joked with me about how the Midwest is like that, especially Detroit. In such a wonderful city, there are going to be forces that blow you off-course sometimes. But, that adventure is worth taking.

“That’s the thing about Diarra from Detroit, we try to create this tone that’s just right on the razor’s edge of comedy, mystery, romance and drama,” Kilpatrick told us. “And, it is that feeling of when you go out the door in the morning, you might have your own agenda, but the city has an agenda as well. It’s not going to stop for yours! And so, you don’t know if you’re walking out into a comedy or a tragedy somedays.”
