Mahershala Ali’s Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother just got a brand-new trailer. He teams up with prospective Blade director Bassam Tariq for an emotional thriller. In the new project, the star plays Latif, a Muslim hitman looking for a path forward after the tragic death of his wife. Latif has a newborn and two other kids to look after now.
Our protagonist is going to have to do battle with Pastor Hwan Yoon. (John Cho as a villain sounds absolutely fantastic.) As the religious element of his life collides with his personal struggles, Latif is going to have to decide how to protect his family in the wake of true tragedy. The Name Of The Game Is Mercy
You might be struck by how contemplative Your mother your mother your mother ends up being seeing this teaser. After all, the movie is being billed as Ali’s massive turn as a cinematic hero. But, there was something in the script that attracted both filmmaker and actor to this kind of restraint. Check out what he had to say to GQ right here.
“Even with the teaser, Mahershala and I were like, ‘How do we explain what this movie is?’” Tariq told the magazine. “Something that I realized was so central to this film is this concept of mercy. Cinematically, it’s not as sexy as justice, retribution, and vengeance, but, to me, mercy is the thread that we hang on. And what’s mercy if it’s not being forgiven or getting a pass when you don’t deserve it? I was always curious, and I’d never seen an action film that dealt with it.”

When his wife dies, he embarks on a desperate journey across Houston to protect his children, confronting the forces closing in around him – and the beliefs threatening to unravel within.
Mahershala Ali stars in Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother alongside John Cho, Abubakr Ali, Laith Nakli, Tramell Tillman, Tiffany Boone, and Giancarlo Esposito. The film also stars Adia and Jahleel Kamara.
