Soon, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will launch into Early Access. In fact, for some players, they can already play the game despite the official Early Access launch still being a few days away. How are they able to do this, you might ask? Well, here’s the low-down:
Warner Bros. Games, TT Games, DC, and the LEGO Group are proud to announce that LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has launched into Early Access. With that launch happening on May 19, 2026…three days before the game officially launches on May 22, 2026 on the PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC (Steam and Epic). How did this happen? Well, apparently there is now a Deluxe Edition of the game that gives you access to it three days before the official launch. The Deluxe Edition makes you pay an additional $20 for a total of $89.99, but if you want to play it early, then you can do so. Not only that, but you also get a The Dark Knight Returns Batsuit if you preordered either edition, so that’s nice. You can see the official details in the Deluxe Edition trailer either on YouTube, or just look below:

Honestly, to me, this looks like a pretty blatant cash grab on the part of Warner Bros. and developer TT Games. Paying a whopping $20 more on top of the original $70 price tag just to play the game three days earlier than everyone else feels like it’s not worthe the price at all. You don’t even get anything else on top of it other than a special Batsuit. You can just wait three days, and you’d still be able to play it, rendering the additional $20 payment a bit redundant. Plus, did I mention that it feels like the publisher and developer are both monetizing the Early Access as much as possible? It all feels a bit scummy to me, and what you get doesn’t feel like it justifies the prices, but that’s just my opinion.
