Grand Theft Auto VI Finally Has Cover Art And A Pre-Order Date, And I Think It’s Safe To Get Hyped Now

An armed Jason and Lucia cautiously walk forward on a dock in Grand Theft Auto VI.

Ever elusive, and always on the minds of loyal Rockstar fans, Grand Theft Auto VI’s decade-plus year journey into existence still gives gamers pause. Who can blame them, as three generations of consoles have passed since 2013’s Grand Theft Auto V, and all that we have to show for it are three updated ports.

The wait seems to finally be paying off, as this sixth installment is currently standing firm with a November 19th release date. And just when gamers are potentially starting to doubt even that window will stick, the official cover art and pre-order dates are now in the open. So, we can start preparing and rewatching GTA VI trailers now, right?

Wow Does Grand Theft Auto VI’s Cover Reveal Bring Back Memories

To merely drop the cover for Grand Theft Auto VI would be enough to get everyone talking all over again. Of course, that’s never been Rockstar’s style, especially when it comes to this world of criminal shenanigans.

So those of you looking for a little bit of pizzazz will be quite happy to watch said box art unfold in a cool new video, care of the company’s social media:

Ah, if only all of the important dates in our lives were accompanied by a retro-tastic guitar solo. In anticipation of the arrival of GTA VI, pre-orders will be opening on June 25th. For those of you with your jaws still on the floor, scrambling to figure out when exactly that is, it’s next Thursday. Which is a far cry from that time the sixth Grand Theft Auto inspired a whole list of THS’ Most Anticipated Games of 2025 – outside of this clear winner.

Now one can hope that we’ll get a new trailer revealing more to this Vice City revival on that very day, but as of this moment, that’s not on the table. So we’ll just have to go old school and obsess over the new cover art, and the official synopsis, to piece together what it could all mean.

Let’s Take A Closer Look Into Grand Theft Auto VI’s Return To Vice City

I know, leaving even a video with music as sweet as Grand Theft Auto VI’s cover art reveal on repeat is asking a bit much. Which is why the header friendly cover art can be seen above, giving us plenty of time and space to dissect it. But before we do, here’s what this title’s official site says about the story ahead:

Vice City, USA. Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.

It may not be much, but this GTA VI description does give us something to play with. Already we can assume that two of the heavies in this “criminal conspiracy” are shown right before our very eyes. One of which is Raul Batista – the sharp looking “seasoned bank robber” in the top right corner, who looks like he’s auditioning for Heat II. The other party of potential concern, strip club/record label entrepreneur Boobie Ike, can be seen one panel to the left of the man popping a wheelie in the bottom right.

Since the Grand Theft Auto franchise deals in betrayals, surprises, and shifting alliances, these men could very well be friends – and cash – just waiting to be made. Though looking at the rest of the hypothetical clues in front of us, we’ll also be experiencing everything from high-speed water adaptable transport to swamp based wildlife interfering with our illegal quest for survival. (Seriously, if a police pursuit isn’t interrupted by a rogue gator, what are we even doing here?)

This is definitely a promising update for GTA VI – which, again, is currently set for a November 19th release date. If that changes, or should any other updates cross our desk, you’ll want to check in with THS Gaming News for all of the latest.
