Kingdom Hearts IV’s Thrilling Teaser Trailer Isn’t The Only Good News For The Franchise

Sora looks out at the sunlight in Kingdom Hearts IV.

Over the last four years Square-Enix has been building the next entry in its blockbuster Kingdom Hearts franchise. Crossing Final Fantasy with the wonderful world of Disney characters, the games still have fans hanging on every new development pertaining to the new chapter – Kingdom Hearts IV

The latest gaming news in that respect is the arrival of a teaser trailer showing off even more of Sora’s return to Quadratum. But if you’re a Kingdom Hearts collector, or a physical media loyalist, you’re about to find yourself smiling even wider in the near future.

Sora Is Back In Action In Kingdom Hearts IV

Our youthful hero with the big shoes became a surprise guest in the June 2026 Nintendo Direct. Square-Enix’s new tease for the fourth mainline title returns us to the city of Sora’s exile. While you may not hear it much in the video you’re about to see, Haley Joel Osment will be returning as the voice of his famed protagonist.

Kicking off a story arc known as the “Lost Master,” it’s still uncertain what this next round’s tale is truly about. The metropolis based setting, a Kingdom Hearts III original, still feels new when compared to past ports of call. However, as you can see in the teaser trailer below, the danger feels very familiar:

It would appear that figures of good and evil have found Sora in Quadratum – with Kingdom Hearts IV’s new showdowns set to endanger way more innocent bystanders than ever. And just in case anyone is still worry about whether or not this landmark gaming saga will still be connected to the Disney legacy, Goofy and Donald’s appearance in this teaser quiet those anxieties yet again.

Unfortunately we don’t have any hints as to what new or returning properties from the House of Mouse will be featured this time out. Nor do we have a release date to anticipate; although 2027’s 25th anniversary milestone for the series would be the best time to debut this new adventure. There is a consolation prize on the way though, as this fall sees the physical release of another Kingdom Hearts compilation.

A New(ish) Kingdom Hearts Collection Is Heading To Consoles And Physical Media

Technically you can already buy the existing trilogy of games in a PC bundle known as the Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece. So if you’re a Steam or Epic shopper, this next bit may not be as exciting to you. That being said, physical media enthusiasts and current gen console players should enjoy this next video; announcing the Kingdom Hearts Collection [I-III]:

Debuting on October 8, 2026, the pre-existing bundle of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 and II.5 Remix and Kingdom Hearts II.8 Final Chapter Prologue will now include by Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind. Again, this is something most fans are probably looking at on their physical or digital shelves right now.

But if you like collecting actual disc based copies of gaming titles, or happen to be a new or long absent Kingdom Hearts fan, this collection is going to be the catch-up session you’ll need to enjoy whatever comes next. One can hope that this re-release of the first three games is a sign that we’ll see Kingdom Hearts IV ‘s release sooner rather than later.

Perhaps we’ll hear more about this in-progress title at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, set to take place between September 17 – 21; which is pretty close to the October 8th release date for Kingdom Hearts Collection [I – III].
