“Fallout” fans, gear up. The Atomic Museum just announced something you might be interested in.

Deeper Into the Wasteland

The National Atomic Testing Museum is scaling up the size of its wildly popular “World of Fallout” exhibit based on the renowned post-apocalyptic role-playing video game, and the brand-new expansion (dubbed “World of Fallout: Prepare for the Future”) is officially opening its doors on Thursday, Nov. 12.

Folks who loved the first phase (which opened almost a year ago and even added a massive Deathclaw earlier this year) will definitely want to check this second phase out. The expansion adds two brand-new galleries packed with interactive goodies, real-world nuclear history, and incredible franchise props. The exhibit is a cool way to see fictional nuclear history alongside actual American history, drawing in folks there to check out their favorite video game and making them learn something.

What’s Waiting Inside?

Inside the first gallery, visitors will get the chance to step into the Vault-Tec Welcome Center, an immersive, retro-futuristic experience that matches the aesthetic of the games. You’ll find classic posters, real nuclear history artifacts, and a full-size, interactive Mr. Handy robot built by DragonFoot3D.

The second gallery will take visitors inside a Vault-Tec Survival Vault, complete with an iconic overseer’s desk (prime photo-op material) and interactive computer terminals to play around on. The area feature interpretive displays that showcase how Vault-Tec approached nuclear survival tactics.

Not to be forgotten, the original gallery is getting an upgrade, too, with fresh, screen-worn costumes straight from the “Fallout” TV series.

When Does It Open?

Atomic Museum is throwing a special ticketed grand opening celebration on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 6:00 to 9 p.m. A $29 general admission ticket includes exclusive after-hours museum access, food, drinks, prizes, and first dibs on seeing the new galleries.

What Exactly is the Atomic Museum?

The National Atomic Testing Museum is based in Nevada and covers nuclear history beginning with the first test at the Nevada Test Site on January 27, 1951. It features pretty intriguing exhibits (Manhattan Project, Atomic Odyssey, and Nuclear History in Pop Culture) that reflect America’s past and current growing obsession with nuclear power.
