THS’s Take on A Grand Return
We’re not exactly wanting for reboots and revivals these days. King of the Hill is one of many different properties that has gotten the reboot treatment over the last half decade. But, to Mike Judge and company’s credit, This one is in the top tier of efforts to revisit the past.
hank Hill and his family still feel just as relatable as they did in the late 90s and early 2000s. But, they have obviously grown and adapted to the times that we live in. We’re still doing satire about modern issues, but with a decidedly More introspective lens than a lot of the other comedies on television. The result is a satisfying visit down memory lane.
A lot of faithful viewers have watched Hank Hill and other members of this ensemble fumble their way through a variety of hijinks. Thankfully, the new episodes of King of the Hill fit right alongside some of the Series high watermarks. And, we’ll drink a beer to that!
What Is Season 15 About?
Hulu teases where we’re headed. “Hank and Peggy settle into retirement life on Rainey Street while attempting to keep their neighbors from going off the rails. Bobby navigates old friendships while dealing with the stresses of being an entrepreneur.”
Our critic, Kurtis Smejkal loved his time back in Arlen. In the review for the first season on Hulu, there was praise for both ingenuity and familiarity with this effort.
“The 14th season of King of the Hill returns with a familiar yet refreshed vibe, balancing its classic charm with thoughtful evolution,” Smejkal argued. “The core of the show is thankfully intact, with Hank Hill navigating his way through the shifting landscape of modern life, all while retaining that trademark dry humour and grounded storytelling.”
“This season shines by delivering a slate of strong storylines that work well as standalone episodes but also weave together to create an engaging ongoing narrative,” he added. “It’s a delicate balance that the writers handle deftly, allowing character growth without losing the episodic punch that made the series beloved.”
