Krypto, Joker, and Batman on the Way

DC Studios shook the table today with a trio of announcements. Krypto the SuperDog gets his own animated series. Scott Snyder is the showrunner for an Absolute Batman animated show. And Joker: Laugh Riot is DC Studios’ first step into anime.

It really goes to show how big animation has gotten for the DC Universe. Building off a strong lineage of animated films, DC Studios is upping the ante. Check out more about these highly-anticipated titles down below. You’re going to have something to be excited about!

DC Studios Absolute Batman.

Absolute Batman!

This show is the biggest surprise of the day. Pretty easily too! Absolute Batman has been the talk of the comics world for most of the year. Now, there’s an animated series to look forward to! Here’s what we know about it so far.

Absolute Batman boldly reinvents the Batman mythos for a new generation of fans, reimagining the Dark Knight as a working-class hero up against impossible odds (and the most terrifying foes ever), on a mission to prove that even in an era of wealth, power and corruption, one good person can change the world.

DC teases, “No manor, no money… all Batman. When you take away the manor, the money, the advantages, what you’re left with is something absolute.”

Krypto's animated series.

KRYPTO!

After a couple of star turns in Superman and Supergirl, the best boy gets his own animated series! Chowder creator C.H. Greenblatt executive produces this take on the Superdog. Check out what we know as of right now!

When he’s not hanging out with Superman or Supergirl, Krypto tags along with a gang of misfit criminal wannabes who live down the block, and they soon discover he’s a ball of destructive, lovable energy worse than any of them!

As he follows them into misadventures and poorly laid plans, Krypto’s pure nature slowly ends up redeeming them, whether they want it or not.

Joker: Laugh Riot.

Joker: Laugh Riot

The first anime title from DC Studios sounds like a doozy. Joker: Laugh Riot comes to us from director Yasuhuro Aoki. Who is the Clown Prince of Crime without his greatest enemy? This new show ponders this question aloud. Executive Producer Jim Krieg is excited to explore this series with SOLA Entertainment. We’ve got a short synopsis.

When Batman is murdered, the Joker launches a ruthless crusade through Gotham’s underworld to find the killer who took away his greatest adversary.

But as his violent quest for answers pushes him closer towards vigilante than villain, Joker is forced to confront the truth that without Batman, he doesn’t know who he is.
