The first trailer for DC Studios Clayface is here. We got a glimpse of the movie at CinemaCon 2026 during Warner Bros. presentation, but now the general audience can watch the horrifying action. Check out the trailer below!
Clayface follows the story of Matt Hagen, a movie star who goes through a true body nightmare. The trailer shows off the effect of how the titular character will look in the film. I was worried that it would be a bit too cartoonish, but they went for a much more realistic and terrifying change. The film hits theaters from DC Studios on October 23rd, 2026. It stars Tom Rhys Harries, Max Minghella, and Naomi Ackie.
It was written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini and directed by James Watkins.
The story of the film is nothing like we’ve seen from the current DC Studios slate. It centers on an actor who injects himself with a substance to remain relevant and beautiful, but he finds that he can reshape his face and form. That turns him into a walking piece of terrifying clay.
Here’s what Peter Safran, Co-CEO of DC Studios had to say: “an incredible body horror film that reveals a compelling origin of a classic Batman villain.”
It’s safe to say that we’re excited for what we’re getting from the DC Universe coming ahead.
What Else Is Coming From DC Studios?

DC Studios has plenty of movies on the horizon and some they’re currently working on like Supergirl, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, The Batman Part II, and Man Of Tomorrow. All these films have been previously announced by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Clayface is a different type of film from the studio, going for more of a horror aspect with plenty of realism.
Supergirl releases in theaters on June 26th, 2026 and features Milly Alcock reprising her role as Kara from Superman. It also stars Jason Momoa as Lobo, coming back to DC to play a different role. The rest of their slate is up in the air in regards to release dates, but Man of Tomorrow sees the return of Superman, having to team up with Lex Luthor against the villain Brainiac.

We’ll make sure to keep you updated on all things DC as we get news.
