‘Hellbilly Hollow’: Kevin Wayne On Using An Existing Haunt For A Horror Feature [THS Interview]

The new horror feature, “Hellbilly Hollow” explores the idea of what would happen if there was a real killer at a haunted attraction. The film from director Kevin Wayne was shot on location at the real Hellbilly Hollow haunted attraction in Vincent, Alabama. It features a terrifying killer and practical sets and effects that horror fans will appreciate.

“Hellbilly Hollow” from Bald Man Films and Convoke Media is now playing in theaters.

Talking Horror With Kevin Wayne at Midsummer Scream

With the release of the “Hellbilly Hollow”, I spoke with Kevin Wayne at this year’s Midsummer Scream in Long Beach, California. In our conversation we talked about the commercial shoot that inspired the film. As we as the design of Tickles, he even shows us the teeth. We chat about the concept of a horror film happening at a haunted attraction and how that could be a terrifying idea being that you may not me able to tell the manufactured horrors from the real thing. In “Hellbilly Hollow,” a team of paranormal YouTubers ventures deep into the Alabama backwoods to film at a haunted attraction the night before Halloween. They encounter a sinister presence far more frightening—and deadlier—than specters and staged scares: Tickles, a disfigured, childlike clown, and his manipulative caretaker brother, Bull. One by one, the investigators, together with local thrill-seekers, fall victim to the siblings’ sadistic games.
