Fan Expo Talks What Fans Can Expect, What They Are Excited About, and More

Andrew Moyes, Vice President of Fan Expo, spoke with us leading up to the announcement about his excitement in bringing a convention like this to the fans, and why it is so important to have these kinds of fan spaces.

That Hollywood Show: What are you most excited about in terms of bringing these Hellaverse cons together?

Andrew Moyes: What excites me most is that we’re creating something that really hasn’t existed for this fandom before, exclusively at Fan Expo. We’re taking everything fans love about Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel and building an entire convention experience around it – and we’re doing it in collaboration with the creatives who bring these worlds to life.

For a fan, it’s a chance to go beyond the traditional panel or autograph experience and truly immerse yourself in the Hellaverse. And doing it within Fan Expo means fans get the best of both worlds
— a dedicated Hellaverse experience alongside everything else Fan Expo event has to offer.

For our team, it’s an exciting creative challenge and an opportunity to do what we do best: create unforgettable experiences for fans.

THS: The Hellaverse has such a dedicated fanbase, and it is something Fan Expo has seen a lot of. What is it about this fanbase and this cast that makes something like this possible?

Moyes: Hellaverse fans are incredibly passionate, creative and invested in this world. They’re not just watching the shows
— they’re cosplaying the characters, creating art, sharing theories, singing the songs
— they’ve built a community. That’s exactly the kind of fandom that makes an experience like this possible.

And the cast and creative teams have such a special relationship with that audience – we’ve seen it in the way they’ve come together at Fan Expo shows across North America for years now. There’s a real sense of connection between the people bringing these characters to life and the fans who love them. When you’ve got that level of enthusiasm on both sides, you have the opportunity to create something really extraordinary.

THS: Your convention is built on being by fans for fans. What about the fan experience continues to drive your mission, and how do conventions like One Helluva Con and Into the Hellaverse fit into that mission?

Moyes: At the heart of Fan Expo is a pretty simple idea: that everyone is fan of something, and there is nothing like celebrating our fandoms with fellow fans. We know how meaningful it can be to meet someone who created your favourite character or experience a fandom you’ve only ever been part of online in real life – to find your people. That’s what drives us to keep thinking bigger about what a fan convention can be. Experiences like One Helluva Con at Fan Expo Portland are a natural evolution of that. We’re working directly with creatives involved to build something tailored to their communities, rather than expecting every fandom to fit the same format. For us, it’s about giving fans more opportunities to connect, celebrate and make memories they couldn’t have anywhere else.

THS: What can you tease about what fans can expect?

Moyes: I think fans can expect us to have a lot of fun with this one! We’re creating a convention within a convention, with dedicated programming, opportunities to connect with the talent and creative minds behind the Hellaverse, exclusive merchandise, immersive activations and plenty of ways for fans to show off their own creativity. We’re looking at everything from cosplay and fan art to special panels, sing-alongs and after-hours experiences.

The goal is to make it feel like fans have stepped into a celebration of the Hellaverse that’s been built just for them. And knowing this fandom, we’re expecting the fans themselves to bring just as much energy and creativity as anything we’ve planned.

Stayed tuned to That Hollywood Show and Spindlehorse for more convention announcements and updates. Season 3 of Helluva Boss is currently streaming, with two more episodes releasing Wednesday.
