‘X-Men ’97’: The Newton Brothers On What Makes The X-Men Score Special [THS Interview]

Season 2 of “X-Men ’97” is now in the books. The continuation of the classic Marvel animated series was able to once again take us back to the X-Men characters that a lot of us cherish. The animation, characters, and especially that iconic theme without a doubt took a lot of us back to our childhood.

Talking X-Men Score Past & Present With The Newton Brothers

With the completion of season 2 of “X-Men ’97”, I spoke with Andy Grush & Taylor Newton Stewart otherwise known as the Newton Brothers. They are the composers for the series. In our conversation we chatted about Ron Wasserman’s original score from the series and what made it special. The Newton brothers then shared with me their thoughts on getting to work on a series that allowed them to explore different places, time, and characters. Finally they share with us how they approach working on so many different IPs that often already have a foundation and a sound familiar to fans. “X-Men ’97” Season 2 continues with the heroic mutant team of X-Men, divided and thrown across different eras in time as they struggle to navigate their return home. Meanwhile, back in the 1990s, suspicious foes and new strains of mutant intolerance are on the rise in the wake of the X-Men’s absence.
