Its been SIX years of Fright-A-Thon, with this year being the seventh. We all know seven is a special number, its a magic number to some. There’s the myth of the Seventh Son of a Seventh Son after all. However, sometimes things need a bit of a reboot. Like Halloween (2018) or Scream (2022), Fright-A-Thon this year is all about rebooting things. That’s why we’re not calling it Fright-A-Thon 7, and instead it’ll be Fright-A-Thon (2026).
It might be hotter than hell wherever you are, but that ancient wind is coming my friends. The feeling of Fall is upon us, Spirit Halloween is open, the Pumpkin Spice Latte is back at Starbucks, and even Halloween Horror Nights is open in Orlando, Florida. That means one thing, Halloween is coming. The Great Pumpkin is waking up to take over the shelves at your local big box store. Those Halloween decorations can come out of their box prisons and get up to spook the people walking by your house. But what exactly is Fright-A-Thon? Here’s the best distillation:
Christmas and those holidays get to swallow up the majority of December, November, and part of January. Why not Halloween? September is a month of going back-to-school and residual heat from the summer. Now it’s another month of pumpkins, serial killers, ghosts, ghouls, specters, goblins, and things that go bump in the night.
The rolling of the calendar over from August 31st to September 1st marks a change and that change is what people who hate Summer love the most. The barrier between the wicked, the haunting, the scary, the spooky, and everything in between gets weaker. Labor Day is the last gasp until we get everything orange.
So What Should You Expect Out Of Fright-A-Thon (2026)?

Previous years have seen Top 5 and Top 10 lists, Reviews, Event Details, Opinion Pieces, Feature Pieces, and others like Why The “Dream Warriors” Music Video By Dokken Kicks Ass – A Serious Analysis.
The fun always kicks off with a Halloween movie marathon that you can follow along with, going from September 1st to October 31st again. It’ll feature old movies, new movies, double features, triple features, and anything else that I can cook up.
Check back here every day for whatever you might have missed. So grab a snack, your favorite Halloween candy, those decorations, lollipop ghosts, Michael Myers, your favorite horror movie Blu-ray Box Set, and get ready for the ultimate Halloween marathon.
