Its not Halloween season unless a V/H/S movie is around the corner. The preeminent anthology horror series is back this year with a musically inclined version, V/H/S/MIXTAPE. The film makes its world premiere at Beyond Fest right here in Los Angeles, California on September 30th, but for everyone else, they’ll have to wait until it’s on Shudder on October 9th.

V/H/S/MIXTAPE cranks the franchise’s signature found-footage horror up to eleven with an electrifying new anthology where music and sound become the source of terror. United by a theme that explores the power of music, rhythm, and audio to haunt, possess, transform, and destroy, the film blends cosmic horror, psychological suspense, outrageous splatter, and groundbreaking practical effects into one unforgettable mixtape of nightmares.
Featuring all-new segments from legendary filmmaker Ernest Dickerson, hip-hop icon RZA, visionary director David Moreau, and acclaimed filmmaker Renee Zhan, the latest installment pushes the boundaries of found footage with four wildly original stories that each put a unique spin on the terrifying relationship between sound and fear.

What Is V/H/S?
The V/H/S series started off as a found footage anthology series that morphed into a showcase for some of the best and brightest in the horror scene. Each year, the film has a different theme, with previous years taking on years, Halloween itself, and even space and time. The various directors and filmmakers who worked on it each bring their own signature style to the different segments. This year features plenty of variety including the band GWAR and the man behind the band Ghost, Tobias Forge. If you’re in the mood for some Halloween frights with variety, the V/H/S series is for you.
