How To Plan For Your First Halloween Horror Nights Visit [Fright-A-Thon]

Post Summary

Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando is already open and Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood is also open for business. Both events run on select nights until November 1st through Halloween. For first-time visitors, it might seem like a daunting task to go and experience all that is Horror Nights. It is! There are plenty of scares, food, events, drinks, haunted houses, and other things to keep you occupied for your visit. This isn’t the ultimate guide on how to experience everything in one day, but this is more for the people who have never gone, about what they should expect.

First off, this year’s event at Universal Studios Hollywood is a bit different than others. They have a different lineup of houses and scare zones and they also have a different show than other parks. The full lineup of haunted houses includes:  Hellraiser, Stranger Things 5, Killceanera: Music By Slash, Evil Dead Burn, Dead Deader Deadest, Sinners, Killer Klowns From Outer SpaceOzzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness, and Terror Tram: Starring Art The Clown.

That lineup would normally be enough but there are scare zones that include: Fortnitemares, El Circo de la Muerte, Hackerz, Blood Bog, Shriek of the Banshee, and Murder of Crowz. Finally, for entertainment, they have The Purge: Dangerous Waters making a comeback for another year.

So what should you do on your first visit to Halloween Horror Nights? What should you expect?

Expect Somewhat Long Lines Depending On The House And Don’t Expect To Die Of Fright

Hellraiser at Halloween Horror Nights

So first off, you’re not going to waltz through all the houses and not have to wait in line. Depending on the night, you could see shorter lines, you could see longer lines, it honestly depends on the night you go. This year, without having seen the lines already, I can guess that Hellraiser is going to be among the most popular. That house and Evil Dead Burn are tucked away by the Curious George parking structure. It takes a bit of a hike to get there, so that might be somewhere you want to get to first or save for the end of the night, because there’s nothing else out that way.

Outside of that, the scares aren’t nearly as bad as some people might say. Yes, you will get scared, but that’s part of the fun. However, no one is popping out to injure you, everyone at the event is there for a good time, including the scare actors! They’re people too, so give them a good show as a guest, and you’ll get a better scare.

First-time people, I know it might also be tempting to pull your phone out and film everything to save the memory. Trust me, that video is going to look like a lot of dark hallways and a whole lot of nothing. You’re much more likely to remember your friend getting double scared in the haunted house if you’re in the moment and not filming the entire thing. Also, don’t touch the scare actors, remember, you’re not the main character.

Try The Food, Eat, Drink Plenty Of Water

There are LOADS of options when it comes to food for all types of people at Horror Nights as well. Try to grab food at a slower time so that the lines for that aren’t too crazy either. Getting through all of the houses in one go, if you’re trying to do that, is about maximizing your time and making sure that you’re not waiting too long for one house. That goes for food too, if you can grab it and walk with it, perfect.

The food options and plentiful; just pick what your favorite thing is and go for it. The same goes for drink options, they have plenty around the park if you want to partake in alcoholic drinks. Just make sure to drink plenty of water, screaming and walking around, especially if it’s a hot night, takes a lot out of you, and its best to hydrate.

Don’t Forget The Terror Tram And Don’t Be An A**hole

Terror Tram image.

The Terror Tram this year features Terrifier and Art The Clown, so that might be a bit busier than in year’s past as well. The one thing to remember here is that the Tram closes 2 hours before the park closes, so you’ve gotta keep that in mind when calculating on how and what to do. if you love Art and want to see him in all his Christmas glory, you might miss him if you don’t prepare.

Finally, the one thing to remember about the event is that everyone is going to have a good time. Being the person who points and goes “I CAN SEE YOU’RE THERE” or doing anything to make the experience any lesser for people around you or the scare actors is bad. No one wants to be around the “coolest person in the park” who’s not scared or does ridiculous stuff. Be wary of people around you, be nice, and enjoy Halloween Horror Nights.
